Sounds like he is too. I admit, I was a bit disappointed, but that's ok. I'm just glad he has such a loving home. Also, I'm so sorry to hear that Tucker's having such a hard time. You're doing the right thing by just letting him feel good for a few days. It's so hard to watch them suffer. Do your best to concentrate on your finals;it's amazing how the most horrible things always happen to us during finals. I'll be thinking of both of you. I guess Chloe sent 3 along to keep me about as occupied as I was caring for one FeLV cat. To see them eat so ravenously really makes me think of Chloe even more. -- Steve -------------------------------------- From: "Steve Lackow" To: Subject: Re: Tompkins Date sent: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 11:43:41 -0700 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Glen, I see you taking your huge heart and your JD and doing some phenomenal things in this world. Best wishes to you, and thanks for taking such very good care of Tucker. He'll tell you when he wants to throw in his hand. -- Steve -------------------------------------- From: "Steve Lackow" To: Subject: Re: Fitz the Cat Date sent: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 11:57:21 -0700 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net You did everything you could, your Fitz loved you so much he gutted it out Big Time just to be with you all. Only if you stop fighting and stop loving have you let anybody down. I am getting that pain in the back of my throat reading this list the past few days. -- Steve -------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 14:48:51 -0700 From: Dana Crow Organization: Magical Moments Preschool To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Passing of loved kitties Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Sincere sympathies to all who have lost precious babies these past few days. Why is it that they always go to the Rainbow Bridge together with other cats? It is a rarity that we (the list) lose only 1 cat per couple of days but more often that not 2 or 3 seem to go en mass to the bridge. I believe that they are romping freely with one another like a batch of kittens chasing tails, butterflies & of course all the fur mice any kitty could possible want. Mine love them to bits (literally).I'm sure they all left this world having known true love. Again many sympathies to you all! Dana P.S. Congrats Steve on your new additions!!!! -------------------------------------- From: "James G. He took his two babies in to the vets today for their first check up and shots. Turns out they are both girls, so the name of Luke was dropped in favor of Holly. He has this idea that we somehow know everything about cats. There is a problem with little Leia. It appears she has a heart condition. We aren't sure what it is but she has a "thrill" which means there is a back up of blood somewhere. Could be a hole between the ventricles, a bad valve, narrow aorta.....He has an apt. Thurs afternoon with a feline cardiologist but our local vet does not hold out a lot of hope that anything can be done for her. My son has said if there is anything, meds, surgery, tests, echocardiograms, what ever it takes, no matter what is costs, to save her he will do it. But she is so little. 8 wks and one and 3/4 lbs. Has anyone in the group run into anything like this? Know where we can find out any information about it? Please e-mail me privately if you have any. Thanks from my son, Larry. Or you can Email him directly at aerolar@foxberry.net -------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 19:25:31 -0400 From: Andrew Sherrod To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Bad news for Rubin Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net How is Rubin? -------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 28 Apr 1998 20:35:56 -0700 From: Robert Frank To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: FW: Saliha Reply-To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Angela: What a wonderful and compassionate person you seem to be! Those furangels are so blessed to have you in their lives! I feel as you do. These kitties are precious gifts. I have sometimes found that some people only place value on human life and not on animal life. Surely, one would not dare suggest that a widow just find another man because her husband died. People are not replacable nor are our kitty babies. It particuarly rankles me that life-any life- seems to be a cheap commodity. my Howling Kitty went to the vet yesterday for his first transfusion. He is on pet-tinnic now and liquid prednizone. The reults so far have been amazing. He seems to be his old self again. I'm willing to accept nything good on his behalf. He will see an oncologist tomorrow to see if he has bone marrow involvment. Wish us luck. At least he is feeling better for the moment. Lastly, try not to be hard on yourself. I wish there were more people in this world like you, It would be a nicer place. Good luck to you and the kitties. I haven't gotten her comments yet, but the first things she said were is he a vet and absolutely nothing is 100%! I will post them as soon as I get them. My own personal view is that I've been on this planet for a considerable number of years and have heard a lot of stories and a lot of fairy tales. Belfield's fairy tale would make Mr. Grimm extremely proud. The Lurker -------------------------------------- From: "James G. Please respond if only to hit the "Reply" button - reasons below. I am sending this to you for two reasons: The less important is that I am changing my email software (not my email address - it is still pachy@earthlink.net or pachy@pachy.org My new software does not have an easy to use "import address book" feature, so I figured that I would just send out an email using my old software, and "grab" the return addresses with my new software. Hope it works. The important reason: Update on Pachy Pachy had an MRI recently. In laymen's terms, about 70% of his brain is gone, as is 60% of his spinal system. He is still alert, eats well, is in no pain, walks around, falls down, gets up, munches grass outside, pees on the floor, walks around, falls down and so on. But he hasn't given up, so --- The formal diagnoses (by 8 neurologists that I've sent Pachy's MRI scans to) is He has dramatic dilatation of his ventricular system (hydrocephalus) and/or extraventricular cavitation of the cerebrum (so-called hydranencephaly). In addition, the cervical spinal cord central canal (hydromyelia) and/or cord substance (syringomyelia) is dilated. The only option seems to be ventricular peritoneal shunt (VP Shunt) surgery. We have selected a doctor to perform this operation; she is contacting the experts (Levesque, LeCouteur, Skinner, Sharpe) in this area for their comments and suggestions. Pachy will likely have the operation in the middle of May --- it's funny but getting "parts" for this operation is like waiting for parts for your car. Thanks for all of your help and support. I'll let you know how it turns out. Be seeing you George Molnar for pachy mailto:pachy@earthlink.net Pachy's Page: http://home.earthlink.net/~pachy -------------------------------------- END
