You are saying, "do not use Vitamin C that is not "Ester C" or ascorbate at all," correct? But it seems you are also saying that you favor Sodium Ascorbate. Could you clear this up for me, Steve? I have Nature All, brand Ester C, I believe that is the brand--too lazy to go out into the kitchen and check. But I am sure of one thing, it is Ester C Calcium Ascorbate. It has separate calcium in it as well, and something else, I forget. The bottom line is, is Ester C from Calcium Ascorbate, the good one to use? Or is there an Ester C Sodium Ascorbate as well. This latter one I have not seen anywhere. I have ceased using the C altogether on Pooters II, until I am crystal clear on this. Thanks. I've been on this list since Feburary and learned alot. It really helped me when my Russian died, great support. But like everything else it's time to move on. Since my husband had surgery he spends more time on the computer and the e- mail is really alot. So Jim please remove me now and I am sending all my best wishes to everyone here and hope that someday our kitties will be cureable. My husband and I thank you Jim for all the good things you are doing. If anyone wants to keep in touch, feel free. Seems I was adopted over the weekend. I met some nice people from a no-kill shelter here in Southern California called Save-A-Life. I was looking for an adult cat or two, but had trouble hooking up (too long haired, doesn't like kids, doesn't like other cats, etc. etc.). So, I turned to leave and this kitten was looking at me with those big big eyes. And, behind him, a little kitty with Chloe's face yawned and looked up at me. Everyone takes kittens, I thought, find some adult cats. So I left to visit another shelter (there are something like 100 rescue orgs and nokill shelters here). But the big big eyes followed me. Yes, I drove back for the kittens, three of them, which immediately installed themselves on my physical person. "Radar" was only a couple of weeks old and was thrown from a moving car, get this one, outside a big chain pet store near the airport. They couldn't even slow down, huh? A wonderful couple named Jack and Jackie from Save-A-Life brought him in, took him to the vet, cared for him, bottle-fed him and he's a sweet little kitten. "Twin" (the one who looks like Chloe) and "Spot" (big big eyes, big big white spot on back) are two of six brothers born to a woman who had to go to a rest home. They too were bottle-fed by J&J. So, I have a new kitty family. They don't replace Honeysuckle, Lil K, KK and Chloe. But they do need me, and THEY SURE ARE CUTE! All three are also at medium to high risk for FeLV, and since they are only 8 weeks old it will be a while 'til we know, and I guess the experience with Chloe taught me that you never do know. -- Steve -------------------------------------- From: AskforArt Date sent: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 13:05:55 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Steve Is Adopted Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Radar, Twin and Spot should be congratulated on their excellent choice. I admire you for searching for an adult cat, but I also know that once you get caught by 'those eyes' there's no getting away from a kitten!!!!!! I wish you luck with the felv testing. I hope they don't have it, but if they do, I am thankful that they are with someone who has experience with it and who will give them the care they need. I wish you many wonderful years with your new babies! You know, I always tell people that I KNOW God is a cat person. Why else would he have made them so much more adorable than all the other animals? Blood drawn from a donor cat contains old, new, and not-so-new red blood cells. And there's really no way of testing the longevity of red blood cells during transfusion. But, Tessie's vet did sy 6 weeks to 2 months would be safe. After her transfusion Tessie got remarkably well. Almost like her old self. She even went into heat, and jumped off the deck(15 feet high off the ground), and run off in search of a playmate in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, the vet was so resistant to treating her in the first place, so she was not given any Interferon/ Immunoregulin or Epogen to bolster the transfusion. By the time I found out about you folks Tessie was critically ill. She died a week ago Sunday shortly after midnight. Please let Lefty sleep, and try not to stress so much. If you wear yourself out then you'll get sick. Is Lefty getting weekly vitamin B 12 shots? Take Care. With all your love, care and support I know no matter what those cuties will be well looked after! Your story sounded similar to mine. I was looking for a slightly older cat as a companion to my Fenway. I thought the kittens always get scooped up fast. Well, I had a pair of big gray eyes staring up at me and it was love at first sight. A 9 week old gray tabby. Logan is adorable!! I too left the shelter empty handed only to return to little Logan. After what I went through, and am still going through, with my feelings about Copley I did not want to get close to another cat. I was strictly bringing a friend home for Fenway. Well, not only is little Logan so adorable, but Copley was a tabby too (brown) and Logan was born the day of or day after Copley's passing. As obvious as it all was it did not hit me 'til after we had her home. I was also hesitant since she too is at medium to high risk for FeLV. It is amazing that I worry about this so since it was never even a concern prior to last October. However, this list has taught me so much. If she does end up positive that just means that she needs our loving house that much more. At least now we have the fantastic vet and this wonderful list to go to for advice and support. Congratulations Steve to you and the three little ones! -Cheryl DeSantis In loving memory of Copley 11-02-95 to 02-20-98 -------------------------------------- Date sent: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 17:32:07 -0400 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net From: Angela Holderby Subject: RE: Transfusion question Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Lefty got a B-12 shot a week ago.
