Also, I would never allow my vet to give a live virus to my cat. Mine uses a killed virus only. But we can only learn from experience. I hope folks will wait until we are able to research Mega C before using it. I have an awful lot of questions. I guess I'm the suspious type by nature, but he also has exclusive rights to selling the product, so hope he is not overstating it's potential. If if truly was a cure, the big companies would have bought him out long ago or simply stole the thing. barb OH btw, I am also checking out something else I have stumbled across. A vaccine that claims to protect against both the viral infection of FeLV and the cancer form of feline leukemia. Also a killed virus. -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator Date sent: Tue, 21 Apr 1998 21:00:05 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Food for Fitzgerald Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Steve, I have to agree with you on this one. commercial food can't just be lumped together. I have had cats live to be 22 and all my dogs have lived at least 12 years, several to 16. It is not the food killing my cats, it's Feline Leukemia. I feed Iams Lamb and Rice and they ofter prefer it over the canned. barb -------------------------------------- From: "Equinox Corp." You see I was raised overseas & knew nothing about McDonald's, foods preserved with chemicals, or isles of pet foods in the Supermarkets until I arrived in the Us. Coming acroos from PA to Wa, we stopped in Wisconsin, there I had my very first experience with pet food Isles. I was overwhelmed In Europe, we used to feed our pets with mostly raw or semi-raw organ meats, chiken necks boiled to pulp, then mixed with brewers yeast, vegies, milk curds, cod fish tails/heads boiled until very soft then mixed with grains or bread . I read that article today, off Belfield's WebSite. I'm wondering if I should print and send it on to US Dept. Of Agriculture. I think as consumers who spend big bucks on Specialty Foods, i.e Science Diet, we can demand our money's worth as well as push for accurate description of ingredients on labels. To be sure though, I'm through buying pet food, even if it comes in a gold can!!! On a personal note, one time I was on a date & ordered Steak Tartare (Do you know what that is), for appetizers. At the end of the evening my date told me he wouldn'tt date a woman who ate raw meat. So you see, I was just wondering If I had made another faux pas'. Someone said that it wdn't matter so long as it got in their system. Cats seem to really prefer awful, smelly, less nutritional food, Maybe they say the same thing about us. But when kitty is sick, I personally will feed her what she loves best, and add supplements for nutrition. You never know, it might be your last meal together. Even if it's roadkill that looks like a close relative :0 -- Steve -------------------------------------- From: "Claude Horstmann" To: Subject: Re: Nutri-Cal - ? I still think we should be aware. Organic Chicken soup prepared with Spring Water. Benzoate sodium as dessert.??? I want CHEESECAKE for dessert ! -------------------------------------- From: "Cheri Gardiner" To: Subject: Re: DUH ! There's nothing patented in it. The reason no one has stolen it is simple---no one can patent a formula of natural ingredients. And, if they did tout it as a cure, it would have to go through a multi-million dollar process to be sold as a medicine instead of a nutritional supplement. No profits, no research. The Mega C contains Sodium ascorbate, sodium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, iron, copper, iodine, selenium, manganese, B-1, B-2, B-6, B-12, A, D, E, niacinamide, pantothenic acid, folic acid, biotin and inositol. Pretty straight-foward stuff. Stein's book also states you can use a pet vitamin-mineral supplement and add the C, or use Anitra Frazier's Vita-Mineral mix with other ingredients added. Will check with Belfield's office to find out if they have more. Also, I think someone on the list had a consult with Anitra Frazier---is there any way to confirm with her the effectiveness of the C therapy?
