Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Lynn, This reminds me a little of "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus". I think that everyone on this list, who believes in a Supreme Being, also believes in that "place" called heaven. That place is, of course, where all the good folks will meet after death. But kinda look at it this way: Our little furries don't know anybody up there if we're not there with them. They'd be afraid and lonely just wandering around heaven looking for us. So to keep ourselves from further worry about our little ones, we have all agreed that a special meeting place has been set up, where they can run and play with each other until we join them. If you've read the prose of the "Rainbow Bridge" then you know that right at the end, it says we cross over the bridge together. Well that place we cross over TO together is heaven. So you see, there's really no disagreement here. You, me, all of us believe the same thing. We all will have a "bridge" to cross someday. Does it really matter what we call it? Doesn't "Rainbow Bridge" have a more beautiful and ringing sound to it than "dying"? Just consider the Rainbow Bridge as the "spiritual structure" used to cross from this vale of tears to everybody's Heaven with all our little ones gaily purring and jumping by our side as we enter. Date: Sat, 18 Apr 1998 20:38:52 -0400 Reply-to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hey All, It would be better to give a multiple vitamin especially for cats from the Health Food Store, or from the Vet. Nutri-Cal contains Sodium Benzoate, a preservative that should not be given to cats. As noted in Frazier's Natural Cat Book page 200 :" Preservatives such as sodium benzoate , ethoxyquin, BHA, BHT, nitrites, and nitrates affect both the central nervous system, and the automatic nervous system." I still think this warning should be added to the Supplement pages. I read the label on the Nutri-Cal and threw the remainder away. We're the first line of defense for our cats. .marilyn. -------------------------------------- From: "Claude Horstmann" To: Subject: Nutri-Cal and the Rainbow Bridge connection Date: Sat, 18 Apr 1998 22:19:10 -0400 Reply-to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi Lynn, It's alright to question the things that we take for granted. Nutri-Cal used to be on my shelf too, and I used it with quite a heavy hand when Selena wasn't eating and I felt secure that I was giving her something that was safe. But now I am reading Natural Cat Books, and the information available is alerting me to the substances found in items that may have an adverse effect on the long term health of my already compromised kitten. It's worth mentioning so that we have a choice as to whether to get a multivite in pill form, and avoid the Nutri-Cal. We have to trust ourselves, you're quite right ! I wish explaining the Rainbow Bridge was as easy... it's location is deep inside each of us, our hearts know the way- regardless of what we call it. ....take care, .marilyn. -------------------------------------- From: "Equinox Corp." I understand that Epogen takes along time to work but Tessie needs something immediate to ease her breathing. I doubt very much she'd survive the strees of another transfusion. I have been reading mail every day always hoping for the best but don't always geta chance to mail back. Glad to hear you have a purr machine again! You sound like you have done an admiral job of educating both your vet & Receptionist regarding people(cat ) smarts. It seems that sometimes people just get lost in the everyday & don't look past to see each of us as individuals with our own thoughts & ideas. You have probably helped many others who will follow in your footsteps by your actions! Good for you Pam! Dana Saliha -------------------------------------- From: "Equinox Corp." Watching Tessie get so sick again has been an enourmous strain. Second, last time she had a transfusion the vet said Tessie was going to die w/in 2-3 days, and they weren't even going to remove the IV needle from her arm. They wanted to keep it in there so It would be easier to put her to sleep. Nothing about Epogen or keeping her going as long as possible or taking advantage of the time I thought I was buying by getting her a transfusion. I feel so sad that all that progress she made after the first transfusion may be lost because she wasn't given the additional help she needed. I've got some iron drops @ home & I'm going to give her as big a dose as she can take. I've offered her beef liver both raw & cooked but she won't eat it. Is Epogen an injection or is it available in tablets? Tessie's most favorite person on the planet (not me, but my next door neighbor ) was @ my home just now. he phoned me (I'm @ my office) to tell me that Tessie was up & walking around. Maybe She'll live till next Tuesday which is when she goes back to the vet. Thanks for offering to think this through, it's very comforting. He does indeed have this along with pneumonia. Now on Baytril & Gerber Baby carrots & Lemon Gatorade we are optomistical about his recovery. The next 24 hrs are critical to his complete recovery. The vet we went to was wonderful!!! I talked to him about FelV & this list & will see if he is willing to be listed. He was very impressed with my "wealth" of knowledge. Boy should he see what the rest of you know regarding this disease. A little superstitious tho' as he only gave 5 days pills cause"if he gave the 14 days worth the rabbit lokely wouldn't make it!! Thanks again especially about the Penicillin warning re rabbits. It is truly fatal. Dana -------------------------------------- From: "Equinox Corp." I look forward to less fighting, & a more pleasant smell. I was fortunate to have had it paid for by our local Animal Crusaders. They were very pleased to hear about my efforts to save these feral babies & are interested in our mailing list. I will keeep them informed. The vet said that given the circumstances( feral, felV + & being given supplements etc) that the cost was fully covered. Vet thought that they were beautiful kittens in wonderful health. Yay so far so good. Anyone wishing financial help should look into organizations such as this. We also have Cat's Protection League who I also understand are very generous.Dana -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sat, 18 Apr 1998 20:46:16 -0700 From: Dana Crow Organization: Magical Moments Preschool To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Dopey the rabbit lives on Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Saliha, Thanks for your note.
