Rubin is definetly trying to give the true meaning of 9 lives and that cats such as your Keigan can still have hope. We found the most important things was lots and lots of love as well as a stress free life and enviroment. Good luck to you Gina -------------------------------------- From: "James G. Rubin has been fighting this disease 7 years now, Sophia for 4 years now. Rubin is very happy that you want to feature him he wants other feline friends to know that he is proof that you can live a long productive life with FeLv. Right now he thinks he is well but we are afraid that he is close to losing his battle but his high spirits keeps him going and he may still surprise us all. Could you give us your web site where his photo will be Thankyou Gina and JoAnn -------------------------------------- From: "James G. Binary files include pictures, Word or Word Perfect documents, executable files, or any other non-text attachments. They are too large and take too long to download for most folks that are paying for their internet connection (or long distance service) by the minute. Paula's posting of George's picture to the list did not bounce which is why y'all received it. If you want folks to see your pictures of your cats, please contact me privately and we'll work out a web page where everyone can see it- or, people can request for private postings of these pictures. Thanks to everyone for their cooperation here. Take care, and best wishes to all. In loving memory of Vyvyan: March 20, 1988 - August 15, 1997 James G. I lost my Kallie to that and Socrates, the original carrier. Had I known....but what is done is done. I still have two that are positive so I am always on the lookout for meds being used. Sure are keeping all our fingers crossed for Rubin. barb -------------------------------------- Date sent: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 20:28:14 -0400 From: Andrew Sherrod To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: George is gone :( Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Thank you for thinking about George and us! When we got her she was sort of "swollen" in THAT area. Andrew wanted to name "him" Maximillian. The vet told us that Max was a girl so we went with George after George Sand. Boy, was she a cool cat-we really miss her. Thanks for asking!!! Paula -------------------------------------- From: "James G. She, too, has the problem of having to talk to the secretary- definite indication of an uncaring vet :( Anyway, she just subscribed to the list and is looking for a vet in Washington State that will treat her poor Tessie. Please help if you can. Thanks. In loving memory of Vyvyan: March 20, 1988 - August 15, 1997 James G. Ariel is the one representing the Black cats and Lor is the one on his back in the recliner.. I have been trying to get Merlins' page up and get into the mutlicat page to make changes and I can't get in!! It keeps telling me I have no "write access" I don't know what I am doing wrong. I do what it tells me to do and then it won't let me do it. I am using a guest name for Merlins page, which is done and has been, (Luvmer) but I get the same message. It's very frustrating. I also have downloaded the music for Merlin's page but it's a midi file and aol press that I use won't let me use that either. There are many many head bang marks on my wall. barb -------------------------------------- Date sent: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 20:42:31 +0000 From: LawBet Organization: Home for Wayward Felines To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Page for those still with us Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Barb, You have headaches cause you're on AOL. Don't know if Tessie's mom would want to travel here, tho--it's a couple of hours away from Bellingham. Jim, please have this woman post to me if she is interested. -chere (and Misha) -------------------------------------- From: "James G. You have over 20 now, that's doing quite well. Honestly, to me, 20 sounds like a day at the beach. I remember when we'd adopted out half of the original 50 we started with, and it got so easy. Only a few short hours a day of kitty boxes and filling food and water bowls. Now, well, it never ends. You know if you get a bigger place, you will expand the number of cats you have to the size you can hold, and then some... George was indeed a beauty. I know it must be sad to get messages about her, because when I got messages about FeLV+ Topaz I cried every time I read one. I cry when I read about Angelina, but that was only last week. I got her ashes back yesterday. On the way home, I heard that song "My Heart Will Go On", and even before Angelina died, I've associated the song with her. It's a sad, poignant enough song as it is, especially if you've seen the movie, but now it just makes me cry. I do truly hope their little spirits are happy "somewhere" and that those little spirits know how important they were in our lives. It's hard to imagine there are so many people out there who hate cats when they are so precious. Do you do rescue/adoptions? Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net I know that this is not a FelV related question but it is not past the time when the vet is open. I am going to the vet tomorrow with my "boys "to be neutered but my son's rabbit appears to have a URI big time. Can someone suggest a quick fix for him? We have some Penicillan 400mg I think in tablet form left over from hubby's strep(It didn't work; he was allergic) Would some of this work & if so how much?? Appreciate any & all imput as we don't want to loose him. The vet had already left when I called. Bunny looks bright enough but nose is real mucky with white discharge & a snuffley sound. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Dana, I don't have a clue if penicillin is even safe for rabbits??? But if you think he may die, I would give him 15-50 mg/Kg. That's what the book says for kids anyway. But I really don't know anything about rabbits, sorry. barb -------------------------------------- Date sent: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 20:17:38 -0700 From: Dana Crow Organization: Magical Moments Preschool To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Correction on Penicillan Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Sorry, just ran upstairs to grab the bottle & it is Novopen-vk.5 MIU 300mg not 400 as i said before. I 'm sure that could make a big difference. Dana PS the vet I am going to in a.m. is a cat only clinic so will have to scout out another vet for bunny if necessary. -------------------------------------- From: "James G. Copies to: DANA_Crow@bc.sympatico.ca Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Dana, DO NOT GIVE YOUR RABBIT PENICILLIN!!!!!!!!! Check this out: ORAL penicillins such as Amoxicillin and Clavamox can kill your rabbit. INJECTABLE penicillin Procaine G with Benzathine is a fairly safe antibiotic for rabbits. Oral penicillins destroy the good gut flora and can kill your rabbit shortly after administration of the drug, or up to three weeks after the drug has been taken. http://www.rabbit.org/chapters/san-diego/health/sick.html In loving memory of Vyvyan: March 20, 1988 - August 15, 1997 James G. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Dana; I would suggest putting the rabbit in a room with lots of steam. Either a bathroom with a hot shower running or a room with a vaporiser. It should help the breathing till you can get to the vet tomorrow. I put my cats that have upper resp. problems in a large cage with a vaporiser and it really help the congestion. Best of luck! Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net I have heard that rabbits are very sensitive to many antibotics - Baytrill (not sure of the spelling) seems to be the drug of choice. You might want to hit the "Texas Rabbit Sanctuary" homepage on the "Net" and quiz her for advice. I can give you a phone number for a person in my area that does rabbit rescue and has a real handle on care/treatment of rabbits.
