I checked on something was stuck in the back of my head and anacids and such destroy the tetracyclines. They can be given, but it must be one hour before or two hours after. barb -------------------------------------- From: "Claude Horstmann" To: Subject: Rissa-Tai Date: Tue, 14 Apr 1998 16:36:25 -0400 Reply-to: felvtalk@MailingList.net If this is a new behavior, then I think it more likely that Rissa is having an adverse reaction to the drugs. If this was behavioral I think she would have been tossing medication long before now... she's had a long time to perfect her pill avoidance number. How's she eating ? Litter box normal for urine and bowel ? I tend to agree with Jim, a liquid form for the medication for future use, and how's about adding Vit C to the protocol for stress reduction.? Vit C one-eighth of a tsp 4 times daily. Make sure it's given with food, or broth. And of course, we all await Dr Myers input later on. .marilyn. -------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 14 Apr 1998 20:40:50 +0000 From: LawBet Organization: Home for Wayward Felines To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: George is gone :( Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Paula, Compassion reveals the path; strength allows us to walk that path; and love provides the light to show the way. The truly loving do what must be done, knowing full well, the pain that will follow. Sleep soft, dear George... Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Nancy, Ariel and I were both lucky. Her swollen lymph nodes where just that, swollen. Kallie's had evolved into Lymphosarcoma. Once it has gone that far, the ImmunoRegulin will not help. I would advise everybody to give their cats a weekly going over. REALLY feel them, under the chin, the neck, the inside of the back legs for lumps and bumps. I don't know if Ariels would have turned into cancer if left unchecked, I just know that she is in good shape now. They disappeared, went back to normal and have not reswollen. barb -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator Date sent: Tue, 14 Apr 1998 21:55:17 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Purging after pills Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net The liquid forms should be available in pediatric forms. You may have to have a script filled at the local Rite Aid, but it is the same stuff. barb -------------------------------------- From: allinda@banet.net Date sent: Tue, 14 Apr 1998 18:52:09 -0400 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: FELV + Cats not treated in MA Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Dear James: I will gladly approach the Doctors at the Vet Clinic where I work with this note from you!!!!! So sad to hear about George. May she play forever at the bridge with all those that went before her and all those that follow. And may she always stay in your heart. You helped her fight the good fight--I hope I can do the same for mine. --Rachel -------------------------------------- From: allinda@banet.net Date sent: Tue, 14 Apr 1998 19:48:51 -0400 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: George Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Paula: My heart goes out to you for your loss of George. I saw her picture, what a beautiful Kitty! You gave her a chance at life with treatment, she had extra months she never would if you hadn't have tried. I know you did all you could & I'm certain George did too. Deep inside I know her road to the bridge was paved with the good memories of your time together. She looks so much like my Skeeter, he went to the bridge 5 years ago, he'll be there to greet her when she arrives. Take care of each other and keep George's memory alive with happy thoughts and stories told in days to come...She'll be listening and smiling down on all of you from the Rainbow Bridge! She was very lucky to be part of such a caring and loving family, you gave her the best life possible. I will be thinking of you in your hour of sorrow. Happiness is being owned by cats... You did so much for her, and were such a good mom. Like you said, you gave her more happy times than she would have ever had. She's at the bridge now with all our beloved furry ones. This poem gave me some comfort when I lost Ernie. Weep not for me though I am gone Into that gentle night. Grieve if you will, but not for long Upon my soul's sweet flight. I am at peace, my soul's at rest, There is no need for tears. For with your love I was so blessed, For all those many years. There is no pain, I suffer not, The fear now is all gone. Put now these things out of your thoughts, In your memory I live on. Remember not my fight for breath, Remember not the strife, Please do not dwell upon my death, But celebrate my life. Anonymous I am so sorry for your loss. I'll be thinking of you. Was she a Russian Blue? She looks a lot like our "Church", a 9 yr old kitty with a bum right leg that came to the Shelter a year ago. I looked at the lovely photo you attached and what an absolute beauty. Three years is a long time to be with her. It was very poignant when you said you looked in her eyes and she let you know it was time. Last Monday, April 6th, my precious little Angelina, a disabled kitty we got in Sept96, conveyed to me the same thing. Her spinal chord disease had progressed to her neck, and the nerves had been damaged to where she could not get enough air anymore. I remember her eyes looking straight at me, and she was trying to tell me with her "silent meows" that she was in trouble. We went to her neurologist who told me she looked like she was close to dying, and I needed a few minutes to compose myself. I gave her hugs and kisses while she fell asleep. My thoughts are with you, too. They are so precious, aren't they? Ask for liquids, not pills and try combining with something she can literally stomach. And try giving them to her in a different room, different time, different way, who knows what cues Rissa-Tai is picking up on. It's almost like vets see an FeLV cat like some old used car that's not worth investing in anymore. They don't understand how important it is to extend our time together comfortably. -- Steve -------------------------------------- From: "Steve Lackow" To: Subject: Re: Chloe Date: Tue, 14 Apr 1998 18:53:23 -0700 Reply-to: felvtalk@MailingList.net How about a site that emphasizes that feLV is not necessarily a death sentence?
