Hypoxin is a medication that greatly increases a person/animals immune levels and has been used with great success in AIDS patients. You need to include your name and mailing address so I can mail you the info. Linda P and this about vitamin c dosage: tinker came down with a cold about three days ago which you know is very serious. With the advice of Linda P., I gave him 1/8 tsp. Vit. C every hour and doubled the dosage of the Ambrotose three times a day along with his other stuff. I was going to take him to the vet but never had to. His cold was gone this morning and this evening he has been running and playing which I haven't seen in a long, long while. Just thought I'd share this with you all in case you might want to try this with your sick babies...................Lynn(Stinker) And from Steve, Chloe's website: After reading the material I'm sharing with you on this website, I also invented an elixir. It consists of pure aloe vera juice made from whole leaves, mixed with a DHEA precursor called Wild Yam Extract, and buffered Ascorbate Vitamin C with bioflavonoids with a ph of 5.8, only slightly acidic. Vitamin C can cause esophagus problems in cats because of the acid, and do get a sodium ascorbate if you can because cats seem to absorb that better than the more-typical calcium. Chloe gets 3cc's of the elixir by mouth every other day. It's not really very expensive at all. At first she balked at it - I use it too and it is very heavily vegetal-tasting -- but now she seems to find it kind of yummy. One of the things I learned is that cats like liquids that are a little carbonated or "fizzy", and the buffered Vitamin C solution fills that bill. I also began adding a small amount of DMG to the elixir in 1998, after it was recommended by a vet who participates on FeLV Talk , Dr. M. W. Myers, DVM of Vet Care Etc. at 1015 Indian Creek Road in Chesapeake, Virginia 23322, phone (757) 421-7040. My calculations show that on average Chloe is getting 100mg Vitamin C, only about 25mg DMG, 10 drops of wild yam extract, in 3 ml of juice. -------------------------------------- From: WORKPARK Date sent: Tue, 14 Apr 1998 14:03:08 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Purging after pills Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi all, This is one I'm not sure if I've seen addressed here before or not. Rissa-Tai has started a new thing for herself over the last couple of days - she forces herself to throw up every time after we pill her. It's mostly stomach acid, but we're sure she isn't getting the benefit of the medicines, because they've probably all dissolved. Ane we're sure she's doing it on purpose, because she only does it after we pill her, not at any other time. When I called the vet to ask if they had any suggestions, the receptionist said "well, we've done just about all we can for her" which has upset me. Also, the oncologist didn't call yesterday like she was supposed to, but they left a message for her today at 7:30 am and are waiting for a call back. Rissa-Tai is a little more lethargic, but not as bad as she was at her worst, just a little bit more than Friday. We think that's probably because she isn't getting everything in her she's supposed to. We're worried that because of her low wbc and her throwing up her antibiotics that the Hemobart will come back, and that it'll take it's final hold. She's been doing so well, it's very discouraging that she has this new stunt. Does anyone have any suggestions? Pam -------------------------------------- From: "James G. Wilson" To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Date sent: Tue, 14 Apr 1998 13:26:04 +0000 Subject: Re: Purging after pills Copies to: WORKPARK Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hey Pam, I've sent your message to Dr. Myers, so we should hear something back by this evening, and I'll forward it to both you and the list. Personally, I wonder why your vet can't make a liquid form of these antibiotics and other pills so that you can give it to her that way- she'd be more likely to absorb the meds even if she tried to throw up afterwards. Also, there is drug called "Reglan" that helps cats that are throwing up stop doing that- it's generally for nausea, though. The antibiotics may well be irritating her stomach (especially if she's on Tetracycline), so it may not be exactly purposeful. As I always say when a vet refuses on the grounds of "we've done all we can", find another vet that will address these problems. Take care, and keep us posted on how she's doing. Talk to you soon. We're desperate. Our cat, BJ, is now 1 1/2 years old. She adopted us in the Virgin Islands when we were on vacation. I had just lost my 21 1/2 year old cat and was "ripe" for a kitten. Brought her home to Denver to our vet and she tested positive for FelV. At that time, she was 3-4 months old. Recently 5-6 weeks ago, she started Protein A shots in the belly twice a week and then about three weeks ago, she began taking her Inteferon once a day every other week. She has also had two blood transfusions. She's great right after a transfusion and that lasts about 2-3 weeks and then she crashes again. She's anemic, eating litter, and her blood count, according to her vet today, is 7. Not good. So I'm buying time tomorrow by taking her for a transfusion, which, of course, is stressful for her. She has to spend several hours at the vet and she hates it. We're contacting another vet (one with more acceptance of homeopathic treatments) and hope to get her in ASAP. Any suggestions or help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I know this little cat wants to live. And believe me, we want her to. Money is not an issue. Her health and happiness and peace of mind are. Thank you. Neither Merlin nor Duncan could keep them down. The Sunday when Dunc started having trouble breathing, thought, maybe pneumonia. The Doxy was all I had, but he threw them up within 10 minutes. Tetracyclines are hard on the stomach. Is your cat the one on Carafate? If so, give that about half an hour prior to the antibiotic, that might help. She can get the ImmunoRegulin, Epogen and or neupogen IV, so she has that at least. Will right more later. There is a Web Site which tells you which Vets are using new treatments for FELV + cats, & it has lists according to states, sadly :-( no one in MA or RI is using any of the new treatments you all talk about on this list. My friend who is the ACO for North Attleboro, Ma. asked me to find out all I could about FELV + cats & treatment on the web (as the town will not pay for her to go "on-line" with her computer at the shelter). Since being on this wonderful list I have a wealth of info for her, & I am talking to the Vets @ the Clinic where I work about using some of the newer treatments talked about here for our FELV + patients. Just wanted to clear this up - Karen has an adorable orange tiger @ the shelter that is Pos & she wants to place him - She is also one of the best people I have ever met. I don't know how she does her job! She keeps the dogs & cats longer than the 10 days required by law (doesn't have them put down - as is the law if they are not claimed - keeps them till she finds homes for them!) If there is an award for the best Animal Control Officer I nominate Karen!! Linda & the cats that own her Montana Fats (I'm not fat, I'm fluffy - & Linda got me from Karen's shelter) Iris (I would have been brought to Karen's wonderful shelter, if Dr. Hill didn't catch me on 4/15/94) Kritter (I'm Iris's Son!) If you want to do a little research into vets in your area to see if any of them would be willing to be listed there, I'd be more than happy to add them. If they are concerned about being advertised on the internet, assure them that this is a free service and that there is a disclaimer that protects them. Take care, and I hope we can work together to get vets in your area interested in these treatments. In loving memory of Vyvyan: March 20, 1988 - August 15, 1997 James G. After the transfusion, she had been pretty perky. Then, poof...we came home and she couldn't even stand and the look in her eyes..."Mom, I'm ready to go..I can't fight this anymore." The vet offered to try some super doses of another type of steroid and some antibiotics but thought it was best to let George go. I agreed..... Thanks to Jim, Barb, and everyone on this list, George had 5 more months than she would have had...many happy times during those months.
