She apparently comes down to get her mail & reads mine as well. She thought that maybe Oprah might listen to a kid telling her about all of us who live & breathe this disease & list & how many people loose their pets & how they feel about it. She said she will write again when Oprah asks (on her show for kids to write about wishes for their families or community) We'll see how big a heart they have at the Oprah Show! It does make me feel good knowing that she at least doesn't see my time as being wasted here on the computer & that maybe we will be able to find the cure. Dana P.S. It may also be that her favorite food happens to be cheesecake even though I don't care for it. I guess I'll be bringing her along!!! -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sun, 12 Apr 1998 22:30:05 -0700 From: Dana Crow Organization: Magical Moments Preschool To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Rissa-Tai's Friday progress report Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Pam, So glad to hear that Rissa Tai is feeling a bit brighter. It sounds like you might be on to a good thing or two with the treatment. Keep up the good work all it is great news! Perhaps spring is on it's way with warm sunshine, longer days,& less rain ( I live in rainy Coastal British Columbia) I know that my kitties are feeling more frisky of late, so much so that I will have to break down & have the boys "Fixed" That "eau de Tom" Barb spoke of & the yeowlling & fighting is a bit overwhelming for poor little Sookey who boards out with them (she is spayed) I will contact the local Animal Crusaders or Cat's Protection League for financial assistance in the operation. They offered it before but I foolishly thought that it was unnecessary. Boy was I wrong!! So far, my 3 are all doing well with Sookey only showing a bit of Gingivitis. I read Steve's web page re Chloe & am wondering why he mentioned that FelV cats can die of this. Can anyone fill me in? My Meeko cat is totally back to normal after his Salmonella poisoning but unfortunately I can't keep him inside. With a preschool in my house , the door is opened millions of times daily & he darts out at every opportunity. he hates it when I lock him in a room; howling & scratching. I guess I'll just have to stay up every night calling till he comes home & keep my fingers crossed that he'll look both ways before crossing. Happy Easter All, Dana (In Memory of Bootsie who died 2 yrs ago today while chasing rabbits across the road.)He was once a feral cat too & a hunter to the end -------------------------------------- From: WORKPARK Date sent: Mon, 13 Apr 1998 02:49:11 EDT To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Oprah show & my daughter Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Dana, Kudos to you and your daughter! Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Nancy........ your feelings echo mine exactly. My sick girl has been on Pred for about 2 weeks now (she is currently on a quarter of 5 mgs morning and a quarter evening) and she has picked up incredibly. I am going to ad Hypoxin in the coming week and will then taper down the Pred to quarter of a tablet mornings only. It has actually saved her life...... Thanks for your comments....... My chemist actually attended a seminar on Hypoxin!!! I have some more enquiries to make, but what I can tell you at this moment is the following: 1. It is unscheduled and can be bought over the counter at chemists 2. It has had much success in AIDS patients 3. It is not too expensive (R180,00 for about 95 capsules I think.) The amount given to a cat on a daily basis will be much less than one capsule. Have a few people to talk to during this coming week and will let you know immediately. I was certain that she was dying. I controlled my panic and invoked the spirits of all the pets that have passed through my life to give her safe transport... I thought she was drifting away. At 4 AM I had fallen asleep curled up on the floor in there, and I was awakened by her dainty little footsteps on my face as she gingerly walked over me and out into the room for her litter box. On her way back into the snug haven in the closet that I had provided she looked at me as if to say " aren't you a little old for slumber parties ? " and she curled up and went back to sleep. COMES THE DAWN: This is the day that the Ambrotose arrives, and also the day that Lynn posts her message re Vit C and Ambrotose, and this is the day that I have to really make up my mind as to which course of therapy to explore. I have the Chicken Soup in the refrig, and I pull out the stops and go the Vit C + Ambrotose route. It works. Please, try this combination. It may not be the Holy Grail of treatment, but it has made a remarkable difference in Selena after 3 days, and the improvement continues. .marilyn. -------------------------------------- Date sent: Mon, 13 Apr 1998 10:00:26 -0400 (EDT) From: Kat To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Vit C & Ambrotose Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Yeaaaay Selena!!! Dr Belfield is in my area and his work sounds very encouraging. I may even try to have him see my cats personally if possible. Both my cats tested positive for FeLV about 3 weeks ago and since then I've been feeding them a raw food diet (which they seem to love) and giving them some supplementary sodium ascorbate (Vit C), as well as some other supplements recommended in Anitra Frazier's and Dr. Pitcairn's books. This website really confirmed to me that my gut feeling is right--that this is the way I want to try to help both my cats. I've been consulting with a homeopathic vet (trained by Pitcairn) for Mindy (she's the one who stopped eating and was depressed/withdrawn for a few days, causing us to take her to our vet in the first place). Mindy has been great since the day we brought her home from the vet and she started eating again (after a shot of Vit B and some sub cutaneous fluid)..but her bloodwork showed that her wbc count was extremely low, and other blood components were down as well. Since Brodie's blood is normal, it was more urgent to start treating Mindy. The homeopath's first advice, after making sure I would feed a raw food diet, was to add 250 mg of vit C to her food twice a day. She had spent an hour taking a history of every aspect of Mindy from me and then came up with a remedy to try (for weakness) a day or two later. I'm supposed to have Mindy retested for FeLV and bloodwork done again in 4 weeks. Sorry for such a long post, I just wanted to say how much this website lifted my spirits, because it sounds like this doctor has had some very good results with nutritional therapy, and I have believed for a long time that nutrition is the most important component in health. (Of course, I now feed my cats nuch better than I feed myself!) It just makes me feel a little less uneasy about whether I'm doing the right thing venturing into what seemed like questionable territory in the veterinary field. Thanks for the great info! The man who discovered it was ridiculed as a quack and a fraud. Gallileo was excommunicated from the Catholic church because of his teachings about the structure of the universe. (And reinstated in the 1990's). Nutritional healing is "scary" to professionals because they weren't trained in it, and if all their clients get healthy, they won't have a job. The scientific community has very little to offer a cat with FeLV. After over a year of treatment without the use of drugs I am absolutely convinced that homeopathy and nutrition will keep our precious friends with us longer than any drug protocol currently on the market. It is always frightening to step into the unknown, but it can be exciting and rewarding too. Good luck with Mindy and Brodie, Linda P -------------------------------------- Date sent: Mon, 13 Apr 1998 09:24:48 -0500 (CDT) From: "Nancy A. The other day I was sure jake was sick--he didn't eat much and seemed quite lethargic. I went over to him, talking pitifully to him--you poor boy, don't you feel well? He rolled over on his back so I could scratch his tummy and took turns raising his arms above his head as if saying, "A little under here, oh yeh, that feels good--now under this one . . ." I soon realized he was not sick, just wanting attention! I was so relieved!! Hoping that Selena continues to improve FAST! Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hello All, I think I am about to start some Immunoregulin therapy in addition to the Interferon & Pred Tucker is already receiving [in the hope that the pred/Immunoregulin combo will help the anemia]. However, although my vet has Immunoregulin, he doesn't really use it. Thus, I just want to find out how the rest of you have it administered to your cats before I let my vet do it. For example, do your cats get it through an IV, an injection, a pill? If an IV--how often and do they sedate your cat to do it? If an injection what is the dosage and how often does your cat have to go in for the shots? Etc. Ambotose is the naturally extracted version of Acemannan. Months ago while I was surfin' I found a 16 question test titled " DOES YOUR CAT OWN YOU ?", and I idly read through the questions... and the only question I was able to answer "no" to was 13. Will you stand at the open door in the freezing rain while your cat sniffs the door, deciding whether to go out or come in ? And the only reason that got a "no" was because Selena doesn't GO out ! 'til Cheesecake. take care, .marilyn. -------------------------------------- Date sent: Mon, 13 Apr 1998 11:46:00 -0400 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net From: "Michele R.
