A little angel now at the bridge. My boys and my Klingon girl Kallie need a little angel to keep an eye on them. Many people don't understand what we go through, after all it was "just a cat" so having each other makes us strong. barb -------------------------------------- From: katseven@pcsia.com Date sent: Tue, 7 Apr 1998 17:42:36 -0600 Subject: Re: Jack, home from the vet To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Barb, This is such good news. Way to go! There is nothing like Eau d'tom pee as an after vet cologne, is there? I have a feeling things will work out fine. Jack is classy name, too. He'll love belonging to such a wonderful mom. I can't even wash him since he just had his "operation" today. Whew...I have the window cracked in the bathroom and the other cats are driving me crazy wanting to sniff my hands, shirt....I have been told that odor goes away in a few weeks. Some one please tell me that 's true!! barb -------------------------------------- From: allinda@banet.net Date sent: Tue, 07 Apr 1998 18:28:22 -0400 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net, felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Jack:Home from the Vet Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Barb: What a wonderful thing you did! Jack is VERY lucky to have you! And to think, he's only 1 - 2 years old. How many happy & loving years you will have with him. He sounds like he will become quite the mush Cat in time. Sounds like he does know you're helping him, & will respond! I work in a Vet Hospital & see many one-eyed & blind Cats - they all seem to fare quite well. You sound like my Sister Karen, she has always rescued cats with one medical problem or another. She had a blind Kitty (& that was her name) for 22 years! Another - Klark who has a cleft pallet - & is 16 years old. Of course none of her Cats go out - (one reason I think they live so long!) Best to you & your new Black Cat (sigh, I've always had black Cats, now I have 2 white, 1 apricot & 1 Maine coon) - I guess the black ones didn't need to find me, but the 4 I have are all rescues & they needed me, just as I needed them! New to list, Linda Montana Fats (I'm not fat, I'm fluffy) Iris (I went to the Vet today) Kritter (& you didn't take me along with my Mum?) Sebastian (just give me my mousies!!) They rescued a blind cat from snow drift. They weren't sure at first what do with her, but she seems to be doing well now. Do you have any felv kitties? I have two left, so was very glad to hear Jack was disease free. Most of us have had or have felv cats or some related disease like FIV or FIP. Anyway, well come to the group. Be sure and check out our FAQ page, we put more stuff on it all the time. take care. barb -------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 07 Apr 1998 22:23:11 +0100 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net From: BILL BEAMISH Subject: Re: Chloe Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net >Irene, I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Angelina. When I first got on the list, I read one of your posts and I went to your web page and saw her picture and read her story. I bookmarked the page so I could go back again. You are doing such a wonderful job out there in Phoenix. Angelina was so lucky to have had you caring for her. What a lucky cat Jack is! I'm so glad he's negative for everything. I once rescued a cat who was severely injured, either by a human or in a cat fight, the vet wasn't sure, but he lost an eye and unfortunately, he tested positive for Felv. He fought so very hard to overcome his injuries but being injured so bad AND having Felv was too much for him and he was only with me 4 months. The girls at the vet's office named him Rocky (self-explanatory!) and even though he's been gone 8 years in June, I still miss him. He was such a little trooper. In my experience, the tom smell will be gone in about 3 weeks but it is pungent, isn't it? I can imagine all your other cats coming around when you have that smell on you! And their sense of smell is better than ours! I'm so happy Jack is now safe and warm in your bathroom. That is so exciting!!! I'm sure he'll be a happy camper soon enough. Good for you for decreasing the feral population. I feel kinda bad myself as i have not neutered my boys but did spay their sister. Since they do not get outside or around any females I haven't yet found it necessary to spend the money or stress their bodies with the surgery. I guess only time will tell if it becomes obvious to neuter. So far, no spraying or scrapping! good luck with Jack; he is one lucky boy to live at Barb's house of cats. You sent a poem the other day, and I would like to send a portion of one which expresses something of how I felt & feel about Ernie; how I couldn't let him go or give him away after we found out he was FELV+; he had already made his way deep into my heart even though we had only taken him in the day before (four years ago): "In some way we do all need each other but it is her the one who seems to need us most She would not survive without us Her life is spared by our caring The thing is if she did not survive we would not survive by needing us in a way she saves us too" LeBeth Carr The author was writing about about a human child I think, but she captured that profound attachment I and many others experience with felv+ kitties. You are doing wonderful work down there in the bottom of Africa, Nina. Thank you for reaching out to me and others in the group.
