Alphaterra is the name of the company that sells the clay. Unfortunately, they did not send the info that is posted on their website in their packaging with the shipment. However, the name of the company on the invoice says "Tinamou Wine Company" (interesting, hm?) with a toll-free number (800) 388-6390. Jean-Pierre was the name of the person who called me back from the message I left at his website. Strangely enough, Rissa-Tai's appetite has been a little better in the hours since I gave her the clay earlier. I am still waiting for the results of the PM's (check for FeLv and FIP). Leaving their little bodies to be cut up seemed like the ultimate betrayal and I am having great difficulty coming to terms with this loss. I think it is because I really thought little Precious would make it and she was so brave. No, it never gets easier, does it? Thank you so much for your support - it really does help and well done to Jim for setting up this list. it was a great idea and I am sorry that we are too far away and too poor to be of any help in the computer hunt. With so many wonderful people supporting I am sure you will come right. I tried to copy the info on the Bach flower remedy web sites last night but could not access any of them. I am still an apprentice in the electronic hiway - am I doing something wrong (again!) or could someone e.mail the info to me? Titch is holding his own but really just a shadow of his former lively self. God, this is an evil disease - somewhere, somehow, there must be a cure for it. We were interested to read about the clay stuff. Titch had started to eat cat litter - it is one called EcoCat and looks like it is made of pottery clay in little round balls. We are investigating the possibility of getting Alpha Terra here. It is frustrating trying to track down the things mentioned on the List because drugs etc are usually named differently here. Sometimes it feels like we are living on the far side of the moon!!! Thanks for all the help, cat people. I am sure all your cats know how lucky they are. One of our members sent it to me a while ago for publication in our newsletter. She said the author was unknown but I am sure anyone who could write something that poignant wouldnt mind special people like all of you sharing it. It does serve to remind us not to be overwhelmed by the pain. He had already ordered the Interferon, but just didn't know dosages and how often to give it. I don't think he knew about putting it under the tongue, either. I think I am an oddity at their office. The office girls look at me as though I am out of my mind to be spending so much time and money on a stray cat with felv. A couple of them have mentioned that maybe it's time I have her "put down" now that she tested positive again. With their attitude, it's no wonder that the felv cats taken there are usually killed. I hope by my being so persistent that others may eventually benefit. Maybe not, it's so hard to open someone's eyes if they don't want to see. So far, it is working out really good. Honey's eyes have gone back to normal although she is still very wary and not friendly to Gretchen. I think time should cure this. My sympathy on the loss of Moira, it hurts to lose one of our little ones. Is Keigan an only kitty now? You mentioned that you feed Keigan Science Diet, is there any special reason for this? I have switched back and forth from Iams to Science Diet and they seem to like either one just as good, but if one is better for them that the other, I would keep them on that one. Gretchen still is eating the raw food diet, but I am gradually converting her over to one meal of regular cat food. I was only wondering whether or not Interferon would be of any benefit to a felv- cat that is constantly in contact with a felv+ cat. I never got this from any source, just my questioning head at work again. It more than likely would not be of any benefit, but I was curious to know if anyone had heard anything on this. While I'm on the subject of questions, I have another that maybe you or Dr. Myers could answer. I'm not sure how to phrase this question but I'll try. You know when a person is injected with an immunization that is from a serum made from a person that has successfully fought off the sickness? Do you know if any such type of thing has been tried using a felv- cat that had been exposed with no positive indications for felv, and then injecting a felv+ cat with serum made from this cat? Don't get me wrong, I don't believe in most animal tests done in labs. I do think, though, that anyone would be willing to let their cat have blood or serum taken from it if it could help to find a cure felv. I enjoy reading your posts, Barb, they are informative and sensible, and it's great to have your knowledge to help us out. I don's envy you having to give him the bath, though, my experiences in that are not at all good ones. Good luck Friday, my thoughts will be with you and Ernie that things work out well. Qetta and Gretchen are chasing each other around the house and it makes my heart so glad that I put them together. Gretchen seems so happy with this new arrangement. I feel so much more peaceful since making this decision. You asked about the Interferon, well, things seem to be working out with the vet, also. He called me this morning, told me he had ordered the Interferon, but needed some information on how often it is given, etc. Jim gave me the information the vet needed and I brought it up to him along with some information on "Feline Post Vaccination Sarcoma". He has been giving my kitties all their injections in the back of the neck, so thought I would have him read the latest info on this subject. What type of guards did you put on your windows so the cats don't fall out of torn screens. I'm going crazy trying to figure out what to do in this beautiful weather we are having so that I can keep the windows open without the kitties either pushing the screens off their track or whatever else they can manage to do. If someone invented a 'cat proof' screen they probably could sell millions of them and I would be first in line. Hope all is well at your place. Sending kitty hugs and kisses. We found our cat had Leukemia and AIDS in this begining of March. Since then, his condition has been getting bad, and now he is almost impposible to walk. He is trying to walk by himself because he needs to go to litter and struggling to go inside and outside. He is falling down several times. We are trying to help him what he wants to do as much as possible, though, because of his nature he seems not happy to be bothered. He is always hiding to the quiet dark place with his best walking efforts. It seems he is waiting for his last moment. We, expecially me, don't want to put him sleep. He still has appetite and clear mind. Though, when we see him suffering both Luekemia and AIDS, we feel helpless. No medication at this moment. Only we can do is keep him in the room where he might like and put litter near him (Actually, it might not work) and bring the food and water near him. And sometime we help his movement even he might not like. We are wondering if we can do anyting else to have him peaceful. He is really special for us. I want to thank you for the information you provided me about putting Felv+ cats together with Felv- cats. Sunday, after much stressful weeks of wondering what to do, on the spur of the moment decision, I put the cats together. Gretchen is having a great time with the freedom she now has. Qetta and Honey are starting to get used to her now, Honey a bit slower that Qetta. I actually slept through the night last night. It was through the information provided by you and others on this List that helped me with this decision. Your experience was so positive considering that not one cat exposed to felv came down with it was the 'clincher' that helped in my decision. Some time within the next year I will be in Ontario looking for some relatives. My grandmother's sister, Katie, married a Delphis Godin and had two daughters, Laurette and Anita, (there could be more children) and we have somehow lost track of them and their descendants. I have been working on the Family Tree and there is so much that needs to be looked up. It has been a fun project and we will pack up the 3 kitties and travel by motorhome to Ontario. I have never been in that area and am looking forward to it. Thanks again for the information. Sending kitty hugs and kisses. It does sound like that clay may be helping her. I'm happy to see you put all the information on the clay in your post as I was thinking of trying to get some for my kitties. Qetta seems to be needing something to perk him up and that just might do the trick. Gretchen has been getting him to play with her and it's nice to see him so lively. I'll be thinking about Rissa-Tai and hope she continues to improve. He needs lots of extra special care now & some good supplements that you should be able to get. I really don't have a lot of answers for you but many people on this list will be able to give you the best information around. Barb's cat Merlin had balance problems likely caused by an ear infection & he was unable to walk. She did find some sstuff to help him thru this & he did walk again. You might want to feed him by hand & in tiny bits many times a day. You might try putting a shallow litter tray near him so he doesn't have to climb up over the side as well. No one seems to have the one treatment that will work for all cats but we are all finding some successes with many that we try. My suggestion for you would be to try him on the Interferon & Immunoregulan but again, people with more knowledge than I will help you. If anything will help you & him thru this difficult time, it will be belonging to this list. We are all here for the same reasons & even those who lose their cats to the disease, many remain with us to find that cure. Good luck to you & please jusst ask many questions & someone will answer!! I'll be happy to get the Interferon and start Gretchen on it. If there is anything I don't understand, I will probably contact you with some question or other, if you don't mind. Yes, we're one family now. I'm happy to have your support on my decision, though. Sleep is always good for the healing & animals seem to know that better than we humans. I don't know what complications your kitty might have with having both diseases, but my FeLV+ cat has also had some success with Acemannan (has to be injected by vet); I hear Ambrotose (taken orally) is also doing some good things for cats' immune systems.
