You get back tenfold what you give when you care for a creature the way we do when they're sick. Ernie is one lucky kitty. We'll say our prayers for both of you. I've been following your postings with concern and sending you good thoughts and prayers. Hopefully, Stinker's mouth will get better and you will enjoy watching him eat many, many more meals. Hang in there and enjoy every moment with Stinker. I'm hoping you received the info you needed. I was going to offer my vet's phone # because I know she would talk to your vet about how she mixed the Interferon. If you think it would help, my private email is hek@itis.com Please let us know how everything turned out. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Gretchen, Qetta and Honey. And, by the way, major kudos to you for making them all family. I had a felv+ and felv- together without any problem (I know I'm lucky). I just couldn't imagine separating them. Keep up the wonderful work-----you're a great mom. As he dries his core body temperature will drop, and this can be very dangerous to his health. A lower-than-normal body temperature is more dangerous than a fever to an ill cat. Try to wet only as much as needed, and then dry him throughly as quickly as possible. If you don't he will be expending a tremendous amount of energy just trying to get his body temperature back up to normal. I began to feel uneasy giving him a bath tonight because it is a little chilly, so I didn't. I will wait until it warms up a bit and then be very careful. Thanks for your concern. Might make clean-up easier. If Rissa-tai is skittish about her meds, give her a drop about 1/2 hour before giving her the meds--she should be much more forgiving of your "torture". And, about 1/2 hour before the dreaded trip to the vet! Most of his tummy has been shaved from the operation but maybe they can shave some more--especially on the legs. I'll get some of that Bach remedy and try it too. I saw it advertised in a flyer for a healthfood store which is fairly close. I think I should maybe just try warm compresses to loosen up some of the gunk rather than the tummy immersion in water. Ernie will especially appreciate your tip, I think. I think the steroids make him sick for a couple of days. They do make him feel good, but only for a couple of hours. This has happened before except it was given to him orally. I thought maybe the injection wouldn't make him so sick. Anyway, he has been eating his turkey baby food and I have been able to get his medicine and supplements down him without any problems. He has been sleeping peacefully most of the day.:) I think by tomorrow, he should be feeling better. Thanks for all the letters of concern and support!!! They really do help................Lynn(Stinker) -------------------------------------- From: DLMLLM Date sent: Tue, 31 Mar 1998 23:56:50 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Being Absent Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi everyone. I haven't been on the site lately and I want to ask a favor. I have a whole new pressure to deal with now. My husband has been ill off and on the last week. Yesturday he had to go to emergency. His intestines ruptured. So I need support from everyone and all the prayers you can muster up. They did surgery on him this morning very early. He has a long way to go till he's out of the woods and then will need more surgery in 6 weeks . He is bacially out of commission for 4 months now. This means I do my day job plus his. We also are caretakers to a lake park, picnic, and fishing place. So I also have to deal with getting the place ready for next month. I know this is not a people sick site, but you all were so good to me when my Russian died last month. I have 7 to 10 nights to spend alone with my 2 cats and my dog, and my computer and could use the chat time. Oh Barb, tell Larry I never got to practice with the pictures of Russian. That was my homework for the week. Learning to send them e-mail. Just been too busy. Everyone send out good thoughts. And hope your kitties are all okay. Have not done the e-mail yet.
