However, when I went to check the website that was posted http://www.holistic.com.essays/cats01.htm I got a message saying the host was not found. Could whomever posted this please tell me if I have the URL right, and if so, what the article said as I am unable to access it? Thanks - you can email me privately if it is too long. That weight gain is also very encouraging. I wasn't one of the people who wrote you during your ordeal, but I have been reading about Stinker and hoping for the best. I do know that hopelessness and desperation you were experiencing and I know that this group really does help a person through that blackness. It is nice to get a second opinion if that opinion is focused on treatment. How lovely that Stinker ate a big meal. After dealing w/ Ernie's recent eating problems, I am so grateful just watching my FeLV- cats eat--they do it with such relish and it is so life affirming. My vet just called to ask me for some information on dosages, mixture, etc. on the interferon I asked him for. He said he knows where to get it but only has a very little information on giving it. He also said that he needs the information today as there is another vet coming into his office tomorrow and he wants to discuss this with him. This is fantastic, especially as he is the only vet in this area. The more info he gets, the more felv+ kitties he can help. The only information he has at present is the "Newer Methods For Treating FeLV+ Cats" from www.angelfire.com/il/felv/ I copied for him so he could start Gretchen on the ImmunoRegulin. Are there any other websites on this or can anyone give me more information within the next couple of hours? Thanks Ann M. -------------------------------------- From: "James G. My extended surfing adventure netted the following results: for a good laugh go to: http://www.imagine.co.uk/freddie/frames/main.shtml (this is a British cat site. Don't leave without reading "Projectile Vomitting for Beginners" and "Housebreaking Your Humans"--these are both in the Cat Basket) for an easy way to get a vitamin supplement into your cat go to: http:tamebeast.com/pawier/index.html (I started using this stuff about three weeks ago, and my guys love it. I bought it at the holistic pet store, and today just tripped across the website) For anyone interested in injection-site sarcomas go to: http://www.avma.org/vafstf/default.htm (this is the task force for the American Veterinary Medcial Assoc. studies about the sarcomas. May have info on felv, but I didn't spend the time to look) for James go to: http://netpets.com for barley grass, wheat grass and catnip tea for people go to: http://www.catfaeries.com Bye all, and happy surfing! Linda P -------------------------------------- From: katseven@pcsia.com Date sent: Tue, 31 Mar 1998 17:48:16 -0600 Subject: Ernie Update, PS Nancy To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi, Ern had his third Acemannan treatment today. He's down to 7.9 pounds, from 8.4 last week, so we're concerned about that. The tumors are continuing to shrink, but the one in his groin is really draining and getting him sticky and crusty despite my cleaning him with a damp washcloth (warm water&hydrogen peroxide). So tonight I'm planning on soaking and washing his underbelly in the tub. I got some hypoallergenic shampoo from the vet. (I know you were all hoping for a detailed description of the tumor fluid, but I'll save that for later!) My vet(s) (actually two vets in office) want more info on the newest treatments for FeLV, so I will be making some copies from the FeLV website, etc. They also told me that since I introduced them to the Acemannan they are now treating or are going to treat two cats w/ the medicine: one who is FeLV+ and one who has an injection site fibrosarcoma which keeps growing back. So they are pretty happy with what they're seeing in Ernie's case. I told them it would be wonderful if Ernie could be an FeLV poster cat! Ernie is going back in on Friday for the chemotherapy: Doxorubicon by injection then I give him a Cyclophosphemide tablet once a day for four days. I am dreading this because Ern's current anorexia started with his first chemotherapy treatment three weeks ago. We might wait. Those pills scare me. They are so toxic I have to wear rubber gloves. Of course, the Acemannan is supposed to increase the chemotherapy's effectiveness, so I hate to delay treatment. Well anyway. We'll see. Susan P.S. Nancy, did your vet prescribe the Cyproheptadine? My vets are unfamiliar with it and a little leery. Any chance I could have my vet call your vet, if so? I don't have your private e-mail address in my header or I would've written you that way. Thanks either way. -------------------------------------- From: "Claude Horstmann" To: Subject: surfin' Date: Tue, 31 Mar 1998 18:40:12 -0500 Reply-to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Linda, sorry to hear about your torn ligament. Thank you for the laughter that I'm having while reading the articles in Cat Basket. Sometimes the grim reality of our daily struggle with FeLV drains us emotionally and we forget how funny cats really are.... Loving them is easy, remembering what enchanting characters they are is sometimes lost as the illness progresses. Great reading... hope you're up and hangin' 10 real soon. .marilyn. -------------------------------------- From: WORKPARK Date sent: Tue, 31 Mar 1998 20:35:56 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Clay Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi all, I tell ya, AlphaTerra works fast. I got the clay I ordered today. They overnighted it UPS, which cost $10, for a grand cost of $20. It's referred to as "wet green clay tube, 1 lb, 47% French clay mixed with pure spring water." And was shipped UPS overnight. It comes in a tube that looks like it's for hand creme, something like that. I will warn you - the writing on the tube is all in French, so if anyone orders it, let me know what it says and between Chuck's and my French and a good French Dictionary, we'll figure it out. I gave a 1/4 tsp. to Rissa-Tai, she did lick some of it off my fingers and the measuring spoon, but I had to put half of it on her paw, and she immediately licked it off. She didn't seem to mind. I'll let you know if I see any results - good or bad.
