Each has to have different things tried until that magic combination is found. You have 20 now!! How is the wild man in the bathroom doing? barb -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator Date sent: Sat, 28 Mar 1998 20:30:03 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Survivors Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Paula, I have 16, but the house still has many empty spots without Merlin, so I know where you are coming from. barb -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sat, 28 Mar 1998 20:33:46 +0000 From: LawBet Organization: Home for Wayward Felines To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: FeLV Project Group Fund Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net For Susan and especially my MUCH YOUNGER SISTER, Please look closely at the "from" line in the message, it will reveal my e-mail address. She's been home for 4 days now and is back to normal! Even though the vet had to drill out the broken root of her one tooth and then pull 3 others, she is eating and drinking and it even looks like she is putting weight back on. Thats probably my imagination, though. She ate pieces of cooked hamburger today and yesterday she had cooked chicken. The first 2 days she was home, I gave her meat baby food. The vet put her on Nutracal and Antirobe, an antibiotic. Good luck with Booger on Monday. Maybe the vet didn't get all the tooth. Fluffy got so sick because her tooth broke off and the root got infected. I know from experience with my Felv and Fiv cats that gum and tooth problems are a big thing. Please let me know how Booger makes out on Monday. Also, Interferon is widely used to fight hepatitis in humans. One of my co workers, father was on it for that, for a year!! But he got shots and it IS human interferon, so it is more effective in humans. What attracted me to the ambrotose was that it seems to help the cat produce its own feline interferon, which is much better for the cat, of course. barb -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator Date sent: Sat, 28 Mar 1998 21:15:28 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Fluffy Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net JUdy, Good to hear Fluffy is doing so well. Poor thing! does she have any teeth left to eat with?? That must have been very painful for her. Good news tho, is always welcome. barb -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sat, 28 Mar 1998 20:43:50 -0600 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net From: Ann M Blais Subject: Re: James G. Wilson Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi Barb, I'm living in this great old state of Maine. Made it through the Ice Storm of 98, too. We only lost power for 2 1/2 days, very lucky. Kitties slept on my bed and we kept each other warm. Going to call the vet on Monday to see if he put in an order for Interferon for me. I will be very surprised to find out that he did, but miracles do happen. I'll let you know what he says. Guess what I did today? Gretchen and my other two kitties are finally together. Yep, I made the decision, right or wrong, but I'm almost relieved to have reached one. Qetta is very happy with Gretchen, Honey is still perched on top of the cupboard with eyes as big as saucers and hissing each time either of the cats come near her. Boy oh boy, I can't wait until bedtime, usually both cats sleep with me and when I did spend the night with Gretchen in her isolation, she also slept with me. If any of us get any sleep tonight I'll be surprised. Did you happen to read in the newspaper today that Naomi Judd has been cured from her disease with the use of Interferon? She had been told that she would not live with her disease too long, it's the bad type of hepatitis affecting either the kidneys or liver, can't remember which one. Wilson Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Ann, Hepatitis C and you stole my thunder with Barb tonight. I applaud your decision to put all your kitties together. That took courage and dedication to your little ones. I wouldn't worry too much about the one who is still hissing with the big eyes. We have one, Gigit, (13 lbs) and she gets along with none of the other 12. She's only had to be repaired twice when she got rowdy and didn't quite move fast enough to avoid the retaliation. In Army talk, your action is an "attaboy" or in your case, an "attagirl". I wanted to wait until a couple of weeks after their next immunization due the first part of May, but the sun was shining today and it just seemed to be a good time to do this. I'm wondering if felv+ cats ever get vaccinated for felv and if so, do they have a good or a bad reaction. Has someone talked about this lately? Is the Interferon that is given to cats the same as the one given to humans? Are you finding better results with Ambrotose than with the Interferon? Now you have me wondering which one should I use. You can find it at: http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Spa/8025/felvfaq.htm There are only a few questions and answers there right now because I wanted to get it posted. I need feedback from each and every one of you about questions you think need to be answered here. As with all projects, this is a group effort, so everyone's input is needed. I'll add all questions (and answers if we have them) to this sheet asap- it will serve as a welcome letter to new members of the list as well as a reference for those that can't or don't want to join our list. Take care, and I hope to hear from each you soon. In loving memory of Vyvyan: March 20, 1988 - August 15, 1997 James G. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Thanks Barb for mentioning about catnip. I have never actually used it before other than in a store bought toy & it has never affected any of my cats in past as did the fresh dried stuff. I laughed so hard as they rolled in it, tore at the plastic bag I was holding & meowed like I have never heard before. My daughter tell me it is like a narcotic for cats. My 3 little positive kitties loved it as much & I sewed up little bags out of fake fur & put in a bit. Also just a point of interest, I found feline enzymes in our local pet store after searching health food store after health food store.Dana -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sat, 28 Mar 1998 22:41:13 -0600 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net From: Ann M Blais Subject: Judy Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Judy, Let me know what your vet says about Interferon, it will be interesting to hear.
