Now, you need to figure out how to send attachments -- but don't send large ones (over 35K or so), because that would indeed be rude. Personally, am very much looking forward to a picture of the Truck Cat from you, but please send directly. -------------------------------------- From: "Claude Horstmann" To: Subject: Re: Hello Date: Mon, 16 Mar 1998 18:19:18 -0500 Reply-to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Big sigh... welcome Ann. How did Gretchen's surgery go today ? My heart goes out to you, this love for your kitten is certainly wrecking havoc in your tight quarters and in your mind too. Let's hope that things ease up for all of you soon. You are doing everything possible, show a little compassion for yourself while working on this situation. Take care, .marilyn. -------------------------------------- Date sent: Mon, 16 Mar 1998 18:10:24 -0600 (CST) From: "Nancy A. I have a feeling Barb might. I was hoping that someone could benefit from my experience. I was so frightened by the disease before Ernie started showing signs that after my intial burst of research (four years ago) I just stuck my head in the sand. I wouldn't have made it to this list even. So you are already far ahead. Misha is in good hands. With all these new treatments, the outlook for our babies is looking better and better. Ernie is doing pretty well today. The Acemannan arrived late today, so we'll be starting it first thing in the morning. I am excited about the prospects. Thanks again, Susan -------------------------------------- To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Date sent: Mon, 16 Mar 1998 22:50:30 -0500 Subject: Thank you From: naohalloran@juno.com (Naomi J O'Halloran) Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net I just want to thank everyone for their support and advice. The past few days have been really hard, but thanks to my family and you guys, I'm making it. It's really comforting to have so many people understand, support and sympathize with me. Thank you all so much. Did she have to stay overnight? The spays at the vet that I work at have to stay over, so I was just wondering. You must be worried sick. I hope everything went well. It sounds like you did the right thing by getting her spayed. She sounds like a real sweetie. I hope your feeling better! Let us know how both of you are doing. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hello and Thank You All for you very welcome support!! Gretchen made it through the operation and although still heavily sedated, the person I spoke with said that Gretchen lifted her head and seems to be doing pretty good. I worry because there is no one there at night and what happens if there is a problem. Gretchen has a will to survive and I will just have to trust her that she will continue to want to live. We live in Maine and although I called quite a few places to see if anyone is there overnight, I couldn't find one. My vet said if he was concerned that he would spend the night upstairs in his office. Gretchen had her 6 month molars when rescued but was the size of a 2-3 month old kitten, so I really do not know how old she is. She has grown some now, has gotten over her URI and the continuous sneezing that she had. She really has come so far from what she was that even the vet said that if he didn't know she had felv he would not know from examining her. Even though my other two fur friends eat IAMS with an occasional can of food, Gretchen has been fed only organic meat (which I am now cooking since the vet talked me into it when he said that her immune system could not fight off toxoplasmosis (sp?) should she get it from the raw meat). I also give her grains and vegetables along with the Vita-Mix recipe in Anitra Frazier's "The New Natural Cat". She is given 500 mg of Vitamin C daily, and 10,000 IU Vit. A, 400 IU Vit. D once weekly. Also, I give her 2 droppers full of Lixotinic daily. Now she is getting Immunoregulin once a month and there probably is something else that could possibly be given to her to help her become negative. I have checked out the angelfire information and would like to be able to try her on Baypunam (sp?) but understand that it is not available in the states yet although someone said that there is a place in Kansas testing this out. If I knew the place I would try to call them for more information. Although I asked the girl at the vet's office the name of the felv test they gave but she couldn't give me the exact information. I know that they took blood from the jugular vein and knew the results in a couple of hours because they did it in their lab. If anyone has any suggestions for Gretchen we would very much appreciate them. She is such a little trooper that when I come toward her with the Lixotinic, the side of her mouth where I usually put the dropper in starts to twitch and open a little even though she doesn't care for the taste of it. I am saddened to read about so many of your babies that have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge lately. My heart goes out to you all and I want you to know that I am feeling your sorrow and pain of loss. Even though we know they are in a good place and happy with so many friends with them, it still hurts to be without them. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net That's wonderful!! Sounds like she was given the ELISA test, as the IFA test results usually take longer. Have a good night, and I hope we hear good news about Gretchen's recovery tomorrow. Pam -------------------------------------- END
