I know most believe in an all-natural everything for their kitties. I do too, mostly. Barb, I do not know Merlin's entire backstory, but, with severe upper respiratory infection and possible pneumonia, is it not a good idea to use Clavimox or another "good" antibiotic in the short term to knock Merlin's infection down so he can breathe? And then return to whatever method you use that has gotten Merlin this far? I mean, cannot antibiotics serve some valuable purpose on occasion, short term, to deal with super serious infections like Merlin's? Just trying to help, with what little I know. Barb, stay with Merlin, hold him, sing to him, love him, reassure him... and... cry for him too as you pray. I am crying for him right now. Poor little guy. It is so hard, I know. One feels...... utterly helpless....... and then you have to look into their little sick searching eyes look into yours..... as if trying to say, "I love you, mom.... I know you have done all you can for me.... I want to look up at your kind face so I will remember you always. I've gotta stop. This is breaking my heart too. Up there in the sky somewhere tonight, something or someone please help little Merlin.... and Barb. I hope he doesn't suffer too much. You're a good little boy, Merlin. Your mom loves you. Hold him Barb. I'm so sorry. gotta go. All you need is Love..... I was told that it didn't matter if Minnie's earsdrums were ruptured, that they would heal ok. Also, that it was better to destroy the infection than worry about her hearing, since the hearing loss would be less debilitating than the ear infection's symptoms. We have made it thru the night. He is very weak and not out of the woods by any means but we made the night. He is on two different types of antibiotics. Zithromax and Orbax as well as ear drops. I decided to put them in anyway. I decided the risk of deafness was one that had to be taken. I got him to take about 7 cc of nurishment this morning and will try a little later to get some more in him. I thank everyone who helped us last night and continue to do so. Will report when I can. How does it compare to Zithromax and Orbax? Never heard of them. And why are these two used in combination? I didn't know anti's were or could be mixed. Love to Merlin and Barb. I am still praying for you, Merlin. You sad, tough, little guy all lost in Koyaanisqatsi. May you find the strength of your center amidst a "life out of balance." May you find peace, harmony, tranquility, Love, and the power to fight another day if you can... and, just a little bit... a little bit... of benevolent help from a kind spirit... somewhere. We love you, Merlin. We love you. You're a good little boy. All you need is Love..... Barb, you're the greatest teacher, and a natural healer. Your life with Merlin reads like a short course in miracles-- let me add my prayers and hopes for more miracles for the little warrior, and for yourself. .marilyn. -------------------------------------- Date sent: Thu, 12 Mar 1998 08:05:08 -0800 From: "Linda [Catlady]" Organization: Whisker Sitters To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Merlin Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Barb; I am SO glad Merlin is still with us......he was in my prayers last night. I am using a product called DermaPet/ear and skiner cleaner on a cat with a ruptured ear drum right now. Her ear is full of infection. I have been battling this for over a year now. The vet is suggestiong surgery to make the ear canal "straight" to allow more air and drainage down there. I will know today what he is going to do as we go in for a re-check. My furry gang and I are cheering and rooting for Merlin. Purrs and headbutts to the both of you! As I write this, I know that Merlin will not survive this latest assault on his tired little body. He has slipped into a coma and it is just a matter of time now. He has been sick off and on since the day I brought him home, but there were good times, when he felt good. I take comfort in knowing that in his short time with me he has been loved and indulged every minute. What ever Merlin wanted, he got, no matter what it was. There will always be magic where Merlin is concerned, but I know Newt and Kallie are near to show him the way to the bridge. All of this only strengthens my resolve that we must fight on. For Merlin and all the others who have gone before him. I pulled out all my guns, and they did no good so I will just be with him and make sure he remains comfortable. I thank you all for your support now and in the past with Merlin. I must go now and be with him. I will write later. I was with him and it was peaceful. I have three angels waiting for me now. Don't worry about me, I will be fine. I have seen much death over the years and I have absolute faith that a better place waits for us all, each in our own time. I have several others that depend on me and I will be there for them. And I will be here for the group as well, more than ever now. Newt is my strength, Kallie is my resolve, and Merlin is my purpose. Thank you all for your support and prayers. I didn't know of the trouble he was having lately (haven't been able to check e-mail for a day or so). I don't know what to say . . . I feel very badly. It's kind of hit me as a shock. I'm glad that you are doing well in spite of this and that you know that you did everything possible for him and I'm glad to know he went peacefully to the bridge. Needless to say, I will thinking of you for a long time . . .
