But Jim what is the address for the project web page. You guys have to remember I'm new at this and still catching up. I to want the vet to learn about the magnetic treatments if it has good results. It might help others. Has anyone ordered the feline health kit from the link to Robert C. Beck? If so, how has the stuff he has there helped you, and what did you think? Did you have any luck? This question is primarily for Steve Lackow. I've printed out a few different things for the aloe vera juice elixir, and have come across some things that are different than what's posted at the angelfire website (I can't recall if they were on a post you did or someone else did). Do you suggest 3 ccs every other day or 5 ccs at least every third day or preferably every day? And I have no idea what a Grolsch beer bottle with apothecary top looks like or where to get one, any suggestions? Also do you still include the wild yam extract? Sorry for all the questions, but I probably have too much info now, and I'm confused what with all I keep track of for her. (Her file, much like the ones I'm sure you all have, is about an inch thick at this point - probably thicker than my own medical file) I'm trying to do everything I possibly can for Rissa-Tai. I just added up the expenses, which have come to about $1500 since mid-December. Part of the problem with that was it took a long time before they could figure out what was wrong with her, and prior to that point involved an ultrasound to check out her spleen and a spleen aspirate. Also, the specialty vet couldn't handle her for whatever reason and gassed her to do anything, which added to the expense. She still seems pretty healthy, to update my earlier post from Saturday, but she's now 1/2 way closing her left eye and it's got a little bit of gunk - but no worse than when her allergies bother her. It also seems to be doing better this evening, but we're keeping a watch on it. We're hesitant to take her to the specialty vet/emergency clinic - they are scared of her there, label her with "caution - violent" and gas her to do anything. My husband also feels that they suggest tests that are unnecessary (like what I've already mentioned - the IFA test at my regular vet was not nearly as expensive as that other stuff, and we actually got a result that finally told us something) and expensive, so if she seems ok tomorrow with her eye, I can take her in on Monday (although her next appointment is for Tuesday). It's so frustrating, no matter what we do I feel like it comes back and bites us in the butt. And we still don't even know if she really has the other cancer, because they keep telling us that none of the tests we can run are "definitive." And it's the chemo for that which has compromised her immune system further. Hopefully, the oncologist we're seeing on March 10 will have more answers for us. Thanks again, I'm sorry to keep asking so many questions, I just feel helpless at this point. Date sent: Sun, 1 Mar 1998 09:00:54 -0800 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Well, Barb I think I am ahead of you!:) Two months ago, I took in a kitty. Her people moved and left her without a home and so guess who brought her home.:) First thing I did, like you, was to vaccinate her and get her tested. Well, she is about to give birth! Nothing I can do but accept these little ones. People can be so cruel. So, I have 17 going on who knows how many.:) You better catch up.:)........Love ya!.........Lynn and the Stinker -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sun, 1 Mar 1998 12:26:52 -0600 (CST) From: "Nancy A. Am not sure yet if I will continue mostly because I have no leukemia positive cats at present. I have 12 cats, mostly strays and rescues and all are negative, receive vet care at the slightest sign of a problem. In the past though, we did have a number of positive cats. The longest lived one with it was Hannah who lived to be almost 11. Next was Benjamin who was almost 10. But others did not make it as long like Abraham, Marcus, Nathanial and Alex and some others. We had them with our negative cats, never did seperate them. Our negative cats never did become positive ones. Through the years there had been so many positive ones that we seemed to find that our vet said our area of the country just seemed to have more. Southwestern NY. Some came from Erie, Pa which is close by. The positive cats all died of some form of cancer caused by the leukemia tho and its a hard thing to go through, no matter how many times you do it. Anyways, its nice to know there is a group where those with positive cats can write and get information. Thanks for listening. Let me tell you a little about myself. I have a website for homeless cats, mainly Washington DC but also relocating a few homeless cats from Singapore. I also do rescue trapping on my own and with Alley Cat Allies and foster cats (I've got two males, 19 lbs plus 9 lbs, right now) for the SPCA of Northern Virginia. Last July, when we relocated Missy and 3 others from Singapore, Missy tested positive for FIV but fortunately we had a haven for her at Pet Action League in Orlando. Missy's followup tests have also been positive. Then, on Valentine's Day, MauMau arrived from Singapore and also tests FIV+ but her adoption home will keep her and she's started interferon. No symptoms. Sparky appears very healthy, but we aren't doing the FeLV-FIV testing before the next cat (Sparky) leaves because a positive would bar travel. Maybe I'm getting overly nervous but between the Singapore cats and so many queries I get around Washington DC, I thought it would be a good idea to start gathering more info on FIV and FeLV here. I've gathered at my own website 25 links to other sites and this week will also add Alley Cat Allies very interesting reports on FeLV-FIV testing of feral colonies. (If you're an Alley Cat Allies member, it's the current newsletter. More than 10,000 extra copies were printed and they're all gone now but it is okay to copy it onto other websites.) Just a note to say I'm so glad that someone else out there takes in so many strays. We are up to 20 now-all stray, abandoned or abused. 2 died of feline leuk a few months ago and we have 1 remaining positive on that is doing very well (thanks to Jim, et al. and the website). Bless you for showing mercy to stray cats!!! Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Wow! 17! We are up to 20! It's getting really crowded but there are 2 more we need to catch. There was a colony living behind a Taco Bell near our house and we have all but 2 here! They are so precious -they really love each other so I think we are going to try to drug them (with vets help) rather than trap one at a time (probably scare the non-trapped one and separating them would be too sad). When will it EVER end! There are cats EVERYWHERE!!!!Need to get a bigger bed or tell my husband to sleep somewhere else! Take care! Paula -------------------------------------- END
