I had the vet run some blood work yesterday, and just got off the phone with her regarding the results. Bad news first, I guess. Rissa-Tai's white blood cell count isn't doing very good. We're stopping the chemo at this point - yesterday was her last dose, because her bone marrow can't be destroyed any longer with what they're seeing. However, she's not showing any illness symptoms, so that's a good thing. Dr. Bolser said to watch for anything funny - funny colored eye goop, nose goop, sneezing, etc. So far she's fine, and we're hoping we caught this in time. However, I'd really appreciate any suggestions for ideas on boosting her immune system. She just went down to Immunoregulin 1 time per week starting next week, and we had started her 7 days off of the Interferon yesterday, but I gave it to her today figuring she needed it. We still have her on the prednisone 7 1/2 mg. 2x per day, which I know isn't that good, but we're also concerned since she's been on it so long that if we cut back, she'll stop eating. She's also taking Pet-Tinic, 1 dropperful 2x a day. She had gained an ounce yesterday, up to 6 lbs. 13 oz., and we don't want her to lose anymore. Please, if you have any immune boosting ideas, we could use them about now. The good news is that her rbc is now up to 20%!!! That's a 5% jump from before, and Dr. Bolser was very impressed with that. So at least we know that somewhere in here we're doing something right. Thanks in advance for all the advice I know is out there. Will keep you posted. Will this replace the list we are currently using? I just subscribed to the group. But it is going to take me sometime to learn how to get around and be comfortable with it. I know it is valuable, but I would love to know how to use it with cats. Don't think Wuzzy would enjoy waddling around with magnets taped to him. I am very interested. I am looking at a brochure as I type on pet insurance. There is a web sitte (have not checked it out tho). Believe it or not... www.petinsurance.com How simple could it be. But unfortunately, pre existing conditions aren't covered. But it does cover parvovirus, intestinal foreign body, FeLV, liver disease, lymphosacoma, cataracts, kidney stones, fractured legs, ear infections, gastric upset, abscess, lacerations. I don't want to copy the whole thing for you but check out the web site. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Read the tribute page of Rena's. Russian is there. I would like to have her picture on it if someone could get it in. My scanner still down. It hit really hard just seeing her name there. Almost cried again. Danny my husband had a problem with it to. It makes it hit home that yes your baby is gone. Our place is open now for fishermen and some of them use to sit and pet her. She was very social. She even crashed the picnics in the summer people had. I'm going to try on Monday to fish. But it won't be the same without her on my lap. We are doing better now as our other pets are filling in and much more demanding then usual. My husband has arthritis very badly (he's had it since aged 21 & now 42) Several people have been talking about its benefits for this. I went onto the net & put in Magnnetic therapy & it did listleukemia, aids etc. that may be helped.Apparently magnets are not responsible for healing but stimulate the body to heal itself. There are all kinds of different products such as pillows mattresses etc. so Wuzzy need not pack around weights!! I don't know how effective this therapy is but apparently a lot of horse people are using it. Come to think of it, even physiotherapists use mild electro shocks to help heal muscle after manipulation.Try total-health-awareness.com/nikkhowmagnets.htm1.Tells you how magnets work. warm fuzzies to Wuzzy & you, Dana -------------------------------------- From: DLMLLM Date sent: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 12:42:54 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Lynn Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi josh. I'm so sorry that I can't remember you were as it was so long ago & was so new to the list. I have since dumped my trash bin & thus lost my mail . Its OK if it was not sent, but if it has been , then I have not yet received it. I just don't want anyone thinking that I am being rude not thanking you. Please if this was you, E mail me privately if you like . Thanks again & again I apologize for not remembering who you are!! That's exactly why it's used for info storage and transmission on tape recording and computer data (iron oxide on mylar, or rust on Scotch tape, as my teacher called it). So, the north pole energy not only brings more healing blood to the area, but more healing resonance from the immune system and alas our reptilian brainstem (our BIOS as it where). If you can get them to sleep on a north pole facing matress pad you'd soon see some very worthwhile results! It is under the holistic section- look for Robert C. Beck. I don't know enough about these ideas to endorse them, but they are a possibility. A woman from another list has sent me a ton of info on this type of therapy as it applies to humans (no mention of FeLV), but I'll read it and let you know my opinions of it. That may take some time, though, since there are probably 100+ pages to sort through. Still, the Beck link should get you started on what this is about as it relates to FeLV. Date sent: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 22:39:18 +0100 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net >Rena, > Can you run this past Pony and get her thoughts?? Barb > Barb, Pony uses Echinacea as an 'acute' treatment only, and says it's quite normal for a herb like this that it's not meant for neverending non-stop usage. NO medicine really is.. Her way of using it is over 2 - 3 weeks, with the first week daily given, then the second week maybe every two or three days to 'sneak out off it', and then just once more the last and third week. She says it shouldn't be used more, and that there should be a break of at least three months in between two Echinacea treatments. In cases of emergency, she rather recommends choosing another treatment when an Echinacea treatment was just finished. Her decontamination drops are pretty good for being used in between, they are good to improve body strength also, and most important when a cats gets other medicines. They help the body 'not being busy only with cleaning the liver and forget about the rest..' (You know Lucy gets them as a preventive, but they also are used as 'acute' treatments. You should get some for your cats, anyway, they need them more than Lucy does..) But calling Echinacea an antibiotic?? You can get milk from a goat but that doesn't really mean the goat is a cow.. We have TWO polydactils, like their mom. One grey tiger, like mom AND dad. (oddly they look like twins) One looks like it may be black and one tiny one that is black with tiger head and legs so may turn tiger. Tho I have had quite a few pups here, I have always neutered the cats so have had almost no kittens. Tried to tell if they were boys or girls, but, boy that's tough. I have no trouble with them when they are older, but when this tiny, it's hard to tell. So I guess I will have to wait. Mom is as calm as she can be is very proud and taking very good care of them. And they look as healthy as they can be! barb -------------------------------------- END OF PART 1: See Part 2 at: http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Spa/8025/9802282.txt
