And once again, thank you for all the WONDERFUL work you do! I just ran off your web pages (and related) to give to my vet for the clinic files. I figure they'll want to look at some of the info and maybe some of their clients. Appreciatively, Nancy. -------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 16:41:48 -0500 To: felvtalk@MailingList.net From: "Michele R. My old clinic didn't tell me Timmy needed vaccinated! I heard on felvtalk they still should be----even though no symptoms. So, they are going in for a check up Thursday. I can't believe my former clinic NEVER said to vaccinate Timmy. My kitties look great and I just want to keep them healthy. Boots was tested when Benny got this and he came back negative, but Timmy and Boots have been together some and have wrestled around using their teeth, etc. I wish there was a cure for this terrible disease. I'll keep you posted. Dr. Rider called me today, he's so nice. How is everyone at your place??? ;) Michele -------------------------------------- From: "RDC" To: Subject: Re: Things around here Date sent: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 23:06:03 +0100 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi, the term 'false hope' is a paradoxon - there can't be false hopes, just false promises. Unimportant.. The thing is that you will always have people around knowing everything better, accusing you for this and that because they have nothing better to do. As long as you believe in what you're doing, it's okay. I'm not saying too much in here because I don't have much to say - apart from the fact that I'm good in polishing up ruined woods. My Charlie had FeLV, he was badly ill but was cured from it in 1991, and we had 5 happy healthy years after this. He died in 1997 of kidney failure, but was still FeLV- negative, up to the end. The treatment (Baypamun) still is not much appreciated - lousy promotion, uncomfortable usage (48-hour-rhythm), it's hard to obtain for a non-vet and sending it into the USA privately is half illegal. 95% of the vets down here don't use or recommend it, for it wasn't around when they started to practice back in 1942... And it's not just the vets - one of the most common reason for failed treatments is that owners don't see a need to appear at the vet's when the 48-hours-rhythm happens to fall on a Sunday - even when the vet is there. Hard to believe, but a fact. Same applies for homeopathic side treatments - let one of them require to be given every two hours and you're lost. But they are most important for ill cats because Baypamun doesn't work when using steroids or antibiotics the same time. Well, and THOSE are the people running around later telling the world the treatments have not worked, and accuse you to provide 'false hopes'.. Cat club people down here still use Baypamun, no matter what everybody says, no matter how many treatments fail. Some fail for the cats have cancer, FIP or some such - which is sad, but there's nothing one can do. Not yet. The biggest tragedies are those who fail for wrong usage. They don't just make you cry, they make you spit. But even one negative cat makes up for it all. Only one single, tiny little negative cat will give you power enough to kiss the rest of the world Good-Bye.. Date: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 15:17:31 -0700 Well, it's actually large chunks of hail, but there is actually "white stuff" layered on the ground here in Phoenix, Arizona! Now THAT is a very odd sight to see. It's 3:15pm on a Tuesday afternoon, I was sitting here at the computer and it began to thunder rather violently. So I went to check on the dogs, looked out the sliding glass door and saw white balls coming down! Wow! I'm sure it's happened before, but I've been in Phoenix for a long time and haven't seen this before! How cool! p.s. I am originally from Ohio, so I DO know what hail and snow look like, but never saw it here in Phoenix! It helps with a good cry. And coming home here without Russian was very hard. You think about it all day at work then face it later. And most cats do have heaven with their owners. And I'd like to think I gave her as much of it as I could. It is a form of heaven. Free food, loving, carried around, bathed, put to bed. And all the time to sleep and play that you want. That sounds like a piece of heaven. I don't know any real poets but the things you come across on this site are from the heart. The way people help each other. We all share the same terrible experiences. I think the poems are great and I hope you send me that one. So here I go. I will pray tonight for Meeko and hope for the best. My vet says cats cover up their illness really well. No matter what they have. I told her she was wrong, I could tell when something started to bother Russian. You can't be sure what but you know. We will all be thinking of you tonight. You know those things they sell with the sayings on them. This would be a new twist for cat lovers. You could say type it out in fancy text and print, border it and hang it on a wall. Can I use it. It starts with ANy cat brought into this home. I'm not weird I just like to get new ideas and this struck me as a poster saying. It will also keep me busier. It sure helps to use this to talk to friends. I just want to know ways to help her. My vet has my cat on Interferon everyday. I asked him about every other day or week and he said that was just another protocol. Will having her on it every other week really make it work better?? Does anyone know of research? I appreciate the info I get from this list. Thanks. I love the poems. They are a treasure. If you read the e-mail to Cheryl, I think mounting the wonderful poem you sent me on to a wood backing and painting up the plaque would be a good project for me. I do a little paints and think the idea is a good one. Keeps me busy. And I hope Steve sends me the poem. Linda -------------------------------------- From: "James G. If so, then every day is fine. The dosage is low enough that toxicity isn't a problem. Also, when I read your post, the old saying "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" came to mind. If your cat is asymptomatic and responding well to this protocol, then stick with it. The only thing we can be sure of with this nasty virus is that there are no sure bets. Every cat reacts to it differently, so the protocol is adjusted as necessary. As for research, you may want to search the MEDLINE and other resources at: http://igm-01.nlm.nih.gov/index.html to get some information about this. I hope this helps. Your list gave me hope and because everyone urged me to get Russian to a different vet I at least had her three more weeks. As my husband and I look we could see the pattern forming. How she acted, how sick she got at times. And so much over the last few months. We had a hope here yes. We would not have done a transfusion without me finding it here. You give people the chance to know and the support to know that they did the right thing but trying everything. The number of cats dying. Some do good on certain things some it cannot help. This is a really widespread disease and None of us would have thought of trying to get this on TV without you. Maybe the people who unsubscribe are holding back because of the pain we see here. It is a good place to let it go. The concern is that the interferon can lose effectiveness, and it seems to me that all the different protocols we hear are ways of managing efficacy. -------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 24 Feb 1998 20:22:27 +0000 From: LawBet Organization: Home for Wayward Felines To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: OFF TOPIC: Heaven & The Bridge Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Linda, I'm told doing things like you wish to do with the poem is good grief therapy. To everyone who has lost their babies, my thoughts are with you...all of you take care and give your babies a big hug. I'm praying that the bad times are over for awhile. Belinda PS. I will say an extra prayer for Meeko. Happiness is being owned by cats...
