Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi Barb, Have not heard a word from Ambrotose lady as yet. Perhaps by tomorrow. My 3 kittens are on 1 Echinacea capsule each per day but I will also try the Ginko I have on hand. They will eat anything at this point & know to wait till I mix up their wet food with supplements. I have just treated again for round worm tho' seems I was given some bad info & treated incorrectly the 1st time & it is back. Should help them better now!!! Thanks & Cheers Dana -------------------------------------- From: WORKPARK@aol.com Date sent: Sun, 22 Feb 1998 04:41:26 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Cornell research Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net I had asked someone else to do a search for me. He did an AltaVista search of the web and selected some sites that seem to have good info and/or links to additional FeLV sites. I haven't had the time to check these out, but if anyone has, let us all know! www.animalclinic.com/FELVEASY.htm www.hcis.net/heartlandvet/felv.htm www.vethospital.com/leukemia.htm www.he.net/~virginia/00000008.html www.animalclinic.com/felvmore.htm www.backinsf.com/lindamarvet/felv.html www.cnnw.net/~tm8paws/furry2.html www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/6167/ As I was typing these in, I realize that some of these look familiar. anyway, if anyone has any luck with these, good. Can you give us a list for him to look at? Please don't take all these questions the wrong way. I don't want to come across as a bully, but some of us have dealing with this %## disease for two years now, so we get really involved and you kind of hit an alarm button with that one med. Whay symptoms does your cat have? Hope to hear later. Jim will forward on to Dr. Myers. Dr is out of town until 6 pm tonight, but his wife called him yesterday with the first letter. Right now she is covered up on the couch and can barely lift her head. I don't think she has too much longer to go. I guess the transfusion could not help her over the hump. God I'll miss her. Will write later. It sounds like an instant replay of my Kallie. I'm so very sorry, it so hard to watch them go and not be able to do anything about it. Tell her it's ok to go and that you'll be together again someday. That's what I did. My thoughts are with you. She xeroxed it for me. However, she will not continue him on this if he doesn't react well to it. She started him on the interferon first because it has fewer side effects. He seems to have an enlarged kidney which has pushed his intestines to one side and rear end lameness which they thing MIGHT be a spinal lymphoma. He was getting better very nicely, except that he still wouldn't walk except when he was mad. At least we know he CAN walk when he has to. Today he seemed kind of sick when we were there, but she said the vincristine makes them nauseous. She expects him to feel better by tomorrow, so if he doesn't look better when I am there on Monday, I'll take it up with her then. Please keep me updated on what the vet says--thanks so much! My animals get me up at 7 am and they don't care that it's Sunday, darn them!! I am one in the group that comes up with the.."different ideas" from time to time. Your cat can live with one kidney, IF the other kidney is working properly. I would think if the enlarged one is so large it is causing bowel problems, maybe you should consider having it removed. Of course there is risk involved. If the remaining kidney should fail, which does happen, but rarely I would think, unless the cat is prone to it for some reason, then you are in trouble. Again, as a nurse, I would hesitate giving such powerful drug on a suspicion. I think I would want to be very sure first. And this goes back to my own cat Merlin. You said your cat has trouble walking. Have you checked his ears? Merlin was totally paralyzed from a massive inner ear infection. That was over Christmas and tho he is walking again, he is not walking normally and may never again, if permenent damage was done. It is refreshing tho, that your vet is in there trying. We get so many pleas for help from people who's vet don't want to do anything at all! So she sounds like a good one who really wants to help. barb -------------------------------------- Date sent: Sun, 22 Feb 1998 08:21:16 -0800 From: Dana Crow Organization: Magical Moments Preschool To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Curious???? Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Just curious! How long has Jim had this list up & running?? Is this the absolute worst last couple of weeks as far as babies losing their fight to stay with us?? It seems so unbelievable. I'm almost afraid to turn on the computer. Dana -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Sun, 22 Feb 1998 12:50:57 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Curious???? Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Dana, We have been up and running a month or so, maybe longer. I lose track of time sometimes. Unfortunately, many people seek help when their back are against the wall and/or the vet doesn't want to do anything or just doesn't know what to do. We have to remember that many of these treatments have just come about in the last year or so, some are even still experimental. In a way, some of the things we try are trail blazing. Some help, some don't. Some help one, but not the next. When ever you are dealing with a virus, you are almost dealing with an individual entity. It will affect each animal differently. Some can fight it off, while others are overwhelmed in a matter of weeks. To tell you truth, I have no real idea why Merlin is still alive and Copley is not. Everything that could be done was done, but for some odd reason that I cannot explain, Merlin is alive. This doesn't mean that I did anything different or better, it means that something inside Merlin is different. But that could change tomorrow. That is why I take one day at a time. That's all most of us can do. Just keep plugging along, hoping for and seeking out a cure, better vaccines, treatments etc. Around here St. Francis has special place. With everyone quoting poems and the like, how about this one for our motto. "Where there is despair, let me sow hope". That is what we are about. barb -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Sun, 22 Feb 1998 12:55:00 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Curious???? Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Dana, should have added we do have some success stories to! Merlin, Chloe, Stinker, Bailey, and I have three positives besides Merlin, who, because they were treated immediatley with ImmunoRegulin, have not had a sick day in over a year. maybe Dana is right, we need to talk up the one's that are doing well as a tribute to those who lost the fight. It's for them and the future one's we are fighting for. barb -------------------------------------- From: DLMLLM@aol.com Date sent: Sun, 22 Feb 1998 14:30:13 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: 10 Commandments Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Yes I to would love a copy of the commandents. It helps to know I'm not alone. Russian still holding on to life. She actually had to pee and I brought her back to her box. She could barely hold herself up. She's now back on the couch. I managed to get about a syrings and a half in her of the AD. Had the Nutri Cal mixed in. She has ralled some. A little more alert, not much tho. All the extra moisture they gave her yesturday is gone. She fell deep asleep this morning and was twitching. We thought she was dreaming. Maybe she already sees where she's going. One of us stay by her all the time. We have come to terms on this. No more vets for now. I know from watching my Mom pass that creatures usually get better during the day and if you make it through one more night you usually live another day. We are hoping for the best. Thanks everyone for the good thoughts and prayers. Will keep in touch.
