My babies went to the vet today for the last of their series of Immunoregulin. So far they are still symptom free. She said the B12 and Vitamin C were great ideas. I'm going to get some tomorrow. I am going to get the baby vitamins and just crushed half in their wet food. They get baby food meat and fresh turkey or chicken every night. I sometimes cut up tiny pieces of steak for them. And yes they definitely eat better than me. But they're worth it. I think I spend more on their food than mine. I watch the baby food closely for the onion. So far Gerber hasn't shown any onion on the label. I hope that's true. I can't find Heinz baby food anywhere close. How is Merlin today? I hope he's doing better. Chaz likes to "sneak" drinks of my morning milk. He's my character. Kitty is a prissy little girl. They go back for testing the end of March. They are going to also have their blood work then. That'll give them almost a month off the Immunoregulin. I hope it will bring good news. You can get yours to eat peas and squash??? I offered him a cooked carrot and a green been and you should have seen the look I got. I give him polyvisol baby vitamins with iron about every third day and the other days I crush up a B12 a Vit C, a pau D"Arco, ginsing tab and add it to powdered goats milk, a high calorie powder and a general vitamin suppliment powder. With this mess, I make a paste like stuff with hot water then add some meat baby food, (no onions in it) for flavor and try to get him to eat it, which of course he won't. So I put it in a syringe and make sure he gets at least 12 cc of it. I used to do this several times a day, but he wasn't eating anything else, so on some sound advice, I stopped doing that and now only give it to him just at bedtime. The rest of the day he eats his regular food now and does...fair. I would like to see him eat more, but he is eating more than he was before and he seems to prefer the dry, which is prob better for him in the long run. And of course whatever of my supper he deems fit for his royal taste buds. I'm so poor buying HIS stuff, I generally have a tv dinner, (actually, I'm just to lazy to cook after work) tonight it was sirloin tips. He really liked them. The meat anyway, IF they had gravy on them. They do have us trained well don't they?? barb -------------------------------------- From: "phaedrus" To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Date sent: Wed, 18 Feb 1998 18:38:11 +0000 Subject: (Fwd) Body Builder Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net ------- Forwarded Message Follows ------- phaedrus wrote: > > Hello Dr. Myers, > > In a previous response to someone on the list, you mentioned using a > product called "Body Builder". This is acrually an equine product so it is only available from the company in quart sizes which lasts a horse 2 months. I retail it for $75 ($80 from the company) per quart plus freight or I can sell smaller quantities (4 oz.) at $10.00 plus shipping. This will last a cat 2 to 3 months. It is a liquid and doesn't have a bad taste. It is used to increase appetite and provide an anabolic metabolic response. M. W. Myers, D.V.M. Exactly where is Jim? Maybe an e mail blitz to a news show like 60 Minutes might work. They like human interest stories. Any feedback? Pulling those stunts to get her treats. Have you sat down and discussed with her how much this distresses you? Well, I think Copley has a fever and I hope I'm right....in a way. Of course, a fever is not good, but at least it would be an explanation and give me something to focus on. Isn't it most frustrating when there is a problem, but you just can't get a handle on it. I always feel better when I have a chance to fight. I hope Chloe's eating picks up too and she comes to realize how important the main meal is as well as the treats! :) Cheryl -------------------------------------- Date sent: Wed, 18 Feb 1998 19:01:16 -0600 From: Cheryl and Michael To: "felvtalk@MailingList.net" Subject: re: the energizer bunny Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Barb, I know you have received many comments about Merlin's name, but did you really know how appropriate it would be after all? What a champ! Merlin and his Mom have amazing courage. Give him a great big hug and a kiss on that cuddly face! She ate her food after getting as many treats as she thought she could get first. And she is indeed one of the smartest cats I've come across, with a very broad vocabularly. Keep in mind, and in hope, that this cat was every bit as sick and close to death as the many, so sadly, who did not survive. What a tragedy it would have been had I listened to some of my "friends" who thought I was throwing away large amounts of hard-earned cash on a hopelessly sick animal. Alexander Pope wrote, "Hope springs eternal in the human breast, man seldom is, but is always to be, blessed." Now that's smart. -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Wed, 18 Feb 1998 20:43:51 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: finicky eaters Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Kelly, I always squeeze the juice out for Merlin, but don't be surprised if he sniffs out any "foreign objects" you may try and hide in it. I only put out what I think he will eat because the dogs get his leftovers. Boy do they love it when I feed him!! barb -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Wed, 18 Feb 1998 20:47:46 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: tv/computer Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Kelly, Jim is in Litchfield, Illinois. 60 minutes is a fairly big time show. They might be booked for stories for months. I like the Barbara Walters idea a little better. Sounds like she does more human interest stories than 60 minutes. Anyone know if Opra is a cat lover???? Once her beef problems are settled, she might be interested. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net A new co-worker and I happened to get talking about our cats today. It turns out that her cat has a kidney problem and she has to hydrate her little girl each day. When she discovered her cat had a problem she went in search for information. She came across Anitra Frazier's book...."The New Natural Cat: For Finicky Owners". This actually led her to telephone consultation's with Anitra Frazier. It is my understanding that Anitra resides in New York, but she travels all over the US caring for sick cats. She also mentioned the Pitcairn's in Oregon. She said they will do telephone consultations with your vet. Has anyone else heard of this? Some cook it, some don't. I just sort of brown mine when I give it to him. He likes that! My prissy one is Chelsea, my calico. She is so vain, looks at her own picture, in the mirror. She is one of my negative ones! You can see her and some others at my www site: http://www.members@aol.com/newtanator/multicat/html ( I hope that's right, sometimes I can't remember my own site!) Merlin is about the same. Sleeping on the couch, tucked under an afghan. His weight is holding, so far. Hoping the Ambrotose I ordered will help him. I might get some of the body builder stuff from Dr. Myers also. barb -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Wed, 18 Feb 1998 20:55:09 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: tv/computer Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Brad, James Wilson.
