I am so sorry that she wasn't able to be with you longer, but I am sure she is playing with Benny, Storm, and all the others at the Rainbow Bridge. Welcome to the group. I had looked at your web site about two weeks ago. Thanks to you as well for extending yourself and your story to others. I've only been a member of the mailing list for two weeks, and I strongly recommend that you join the list, as you will gain a lot of insight to this disease. There is a lot of good medical information to be found in this group's writings, as well as a lot of support for you and your best friend. If you'd like to get an idea of what happens with the mailing list, you might want to take a look at some of the archives of the mailing list. Let me know if you'd like further information. When you had Benny given the first blood transfusion what happened. Did it perk him up and for how long? We are debating this with Russian along with the interferon. We are trying to come to grips with making a decision for Thursday when we see the vet again. There is no change in her at all. She does not seem in pain but of course cannot tell us. I think by Thursday we will have to make a decision one way or the other. Quality of life was too important for her to live like this much longer. It is wearing us down both emotionally and physically. Our vet says that the cats can still live with the blood level at 6. But they are so drained it is an effort for them to move. She as of yesturday was still at 18. But it also a test for her to move around. I'm going to ask the vet about Epogen to. Barb said something about it. Do the transfusions encourage the body to start producing their own cells or it is just a quick fix? Please let me know. Epogen is one I've added to the vet list this morning. I'm going to drive her nuts. Joan sent me information on stuff and it might just go to the vets on my way to work. I have not had much chance to read it. But will try before I leave. My poor husband is taking a nap. Our sleep sure is getting messed up. And I need some input. All of you have had success with different drugs. Other then the Epogen my vet wants to know what some of the other vets have used. She is researching these to try on Russian. If I can come up with more she will get info on them. Please help. You can order it from Margie Murnan at www.turbosurf.com/mannatech. If you e-mail her she's really prompt about answering, and will phone you if you ask. It's just a food supplement, but it helps the blood cells communicate with each other. It seems the list has been hard hit these past few weeks, yet it's always freshly devastating to learn about the loss of one of our list family members. I hope all our little babies who've crossed the Bridge meet up on the other side and keep each other in good company until it's time for all to meet again. I suspect that they do. Take good care and keep loving your living cats as only you can do. It really hurts extra I think to lose these cats because we go the distance as much as we can with them and are engaged in such a struggle for their quality of life and happiness. You were absolutely right to recognize when Topaz was suffering and to put an end to it; it takes a special kind of courage to put your loved one's need for peace before your need for more resolution. I have checked out your website several times and as a long distance cyber-bystander want to say thanks for being there for ALL your cats. I know Topaz thanks you too for all your loving care that you gave her. Was the test done with an in house antibody test or an IFA test? I would keep this cat in the care of a veterinarian and not use your brother's credentials to get medications that your veterinarian is unaware of. This will not help your cat. Let's get test results pinned down first and then go from there. M. W. Being an FeLV+ cat and only 8 months made Topaz very special to me. Her absence is profoundly noticed. I can only hope my other FeLV cats will have better fortune. Just talked to a lady named Margie who sells the Amrotose. Seems promising and helps to boost the immune system. Am stopping by the vet to bug her with this new idea. And drop off paper work Joan sent me. The Amrotose is suppose to help the body produce it's own Interferon.
