Have someone you know call the local news station. You may not get that rotten agency to stop harrassing you about taking back your computer, but I'll bet there would be plenty of businesses that would be eager to come to your rescue. I am pretty new to the mailing list and wanted to get suggestions on where to start. I adopted a 5mo old FeLv + kitty almost two weeks ago. William is very active and seems to have no symptoms at this time( other than some gingivitis). He was tested twice by his previous owner at 8 and 14 week and tested positive both times. Since he is doing well at this time, I would like him to maintain this as long as possible. He is on Sciece DIet at this time and has a good apetite. He was neutered just before he came to us and has recovered from this fine, though getting the antibiotics down him was a chore. I would appreciate any advice on where to start with nutritional supplements etc. Thanks! If Jim could get a news story started about the computer and this web site, I'll bet a business would donate a computer to him. If someone would tell me where he's located I could try a Wal-Mart deal. Maybe if a Wal-Mart near him knew he needed something like that they might help. I work for one and they are always looking for publisity stuff. Might be worth a try. They also have a web site. Russian's vet called this morning and wants another blood test tomorrow and is talking blood transfusion. Her count is at 18 now but they are worried about it dropping lower. I guess the stress of the sickness and surgery has started the leukemia up. This is her first big episode with this disease. She just has not improved at all. She still does not want to be touched and is still fighting the feeding. She is alert but seems sort of distant and spaced out at times. There is still alot of weakness. Maybe I worry too much. But this is really starting to get to me. It is my husbands turn to get up with her tonight for feedings, and me, well I've worn myself out lastnight . How to you cope with this and not loose your sanity. I am turning to you for a bit of needed advice. This morning (Sunday) I notice that my kitten 'Storm" 4 lbs is salivating excessively. I spent most of the day drying her mouth. It never gets to dripping out of her mouth but it is sloppy. I notice late yesterday the she seems to be reguriating alot. She never did this before. She has been eating normal. Unfortunately, they are not on the list recommended diet (Iams, Hill or Purina) I have them on the 9-lives, Friskies, Fancy Feast diet. I am going to switch this week once my supply runs out. They are eating the ONE kitten food. They do like table scraps at night, but don't eat too much. I gave 'Storm' some warmed Chamomile tea to help calm her stomach. Any thoughts? She is +FeLV (Acemannan shots once a week (fri)) and symptomatic FIP (fluid in the belly). Her heart and lungs were clear on Fri night. Thanks! Dimethylglycine at 25 to 50 mg per day is ideal to maintain the immune system. Your veterinarian can get this product for you through the Vetri Science corporation. I like to add a digestive enzyme supplement to this regimen. My preference is Infinity2 Digest A Meal, but you can also use Prozyme through your veterinarian. Keep vaccines, exams, and deworming programs current. Use good flea control and enjoy your new friend. In the future you may want to consider immunotherapy to possibly eliminate the virus, but at 5 months and healthy, I would just "build him up" for a future battle if needed. M. W. You get very weary. I would go with the transfusion, it could pick her up and consider a drug called Epogen. It stimulates the body to produce more RBC's. Michele's vet uses this drug. Her vet was supposed to give me the protocal, but never did. Maybe she can call him and get it from him. Just remember, you can only do what you can do. Know that we are thinking of you and rooting for you. Russian needs you and you've been picked to take care of her. When my Sasha got so sick and wouldn't eat, we did hand feed her but at night, normal sleeping time, she was left alone. I found that A/D kitty food was the easiest. You have to get it from the vet though. As far as the transfusions go, when Sasha got hers, she was like her rugular old self. I know how tired you can get but please remember that she needs you because she can't do this on her own. You're doing the right thing and just try to hang in there. My thoughts are with you. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi-- There's a conference call every Saturday at 9 a.m. Mountain time at 916-689-0862. People with ?s about the Mannatech products can call in and talk. This line isn't specific to pets, but should shed some light on the products and the success people are having with them. The lady that I bought the Ambrotose from said that she starting giving it to her dog as a general nutrition supplement, and that her dog now has a mammary tumor that has liqified and is working its way up to the skin. She said her vet had never seen anything like it. Your vet may not know about Ambrotose, and because it is a food supplement, prescription is needed. Also, there are no known drug interactions or side effects. Also, have you tried using kitten milk replacement formula? The powdered type is the least expensive, and you can purchase it from your vet or any of the larger pet care stores. It's easy to digest, and easy to feed by dropper, if need be. Good luck, and keep us posted. Soggy in Sacramento, Linda P -------------------------------------- END
