I also own a preschool & one of these traps was set 10 feet off the path we normally take thru the woods. We have managed to have them banned in our municipality but it was not an easy doing Thanks to the SPCA who backed us 100%. If anyone wishes to discuss this matter please Email me personally as this is not really to do with the topic at hand. AT their age they supposedly still have adecent chance of testing negative later. I am looking for any advice on nutrition and what tI can do to keep t hem as healthy as possible. I have read many articles on a holictic approach?. can you get most of these vitamins etc at a general health food store? Any info would be appreciated. What I need to know is how much and how often do I give my kitty? He weighs about 7-8 lbs. Also can you give a kitty too many vitamins? What is too much? Thanks! Is everything a go to get rid of the offending teeth tomorrow? Interestingly, I also will be having dental work tomorrow afternoon, ICK. Two caps. Not really painful but I sure hate that "dead mouth" you have for hours. It is amazing what problems bad teeth can cause. I have seen people present in the ER thinking they were having strokes, heartattacks, you name it and after all the really bad things are ruled out, someone peers in their mouth and says, "you got bad teeth". Once out, they are fine. I am really hoping, that once those teeth are out, and the mouth healed, Russian will bounce back. Hope to hear soon and good news tomorrow. What is that exactly? Glad Jake is doing well. I think I would rather deal with one disease at a time. To assist utilization of a prepared diet I add supplemental enzymes. My favorites are a product called Digest A Meal from the Infinity2 company. Additionally I add their antioxidants to the regimen. I would be happy to confer with your veterinarian on this if he would like. M. W. For a cat Stinker's size I use one half a Digest A Meal per meal mixed with the food. If she eats continuously through the day, I just give about half a capsule daily. I give one antioxidant and one Total Body Flora once daily. M. W. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hello! I recently took in a male cat who is a little over a year old, according to the doctor. When I took him in to get neutered, I asked for the ELISA test because of a cold he seemed to have (sneezing, coughing...) and it turned out that he was positive for FeLV. This was a little over 3 months ago. He hasn't showed any symptoms and he hasn't gotten sick. One of the doctors didn't recommend any medications for him now because he isn't sick. Another doctor mentioned a medication to help keep up his immune system (I think?) Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me? What are the chances of Catsby testing negative later on? I was told to come back to the doctor in 6 months (?) to retest him. Does he really ahve a chance of making it? Also, should I put him on any medication now, even though he isn't sick? Any help would be great! Thanks a lot! Alma PS: I also have seven other cats at home (and yes I keep them separated from the infected one.) I live in an apartment...the seven cats have their own room and Catsby has his very own room. Once in awhile, I let the cats into the livingroom. I switch off days of who gets to roam the livingroom (for example, today the seven cats are out while catsby is locked up in his room.) Is this safe? I'm a worry wart so please bear with me! -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Wed, 11 Feb 1998 22:27:25 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Hi! I'm new and I need some advice... Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Alma, Welcome to the group. First, are your other seven cats vaccinated? If not, do that right away. Second, I believe the time to get ahead of this disease is to jump right on it with both feet. By all means, ImmunoRegulin, (the immune booster) should be started asap. Also, interferon. And nutrition is a must. Vitamins, antioxidents, minerals, a long list. Others will all jump in with those suggestions. Most of us are either fighting the disease in our homes or have already lost one or more to it. I have lost two, have 4 more with it, but only one is sick. The other three, after being treated, have been healthy for over a year. There are no sure fire answers with this disease. My healthy positive ones could be sick tomorrow or never. THey could test negative next week, or never. I know that sounds vague, but this disease is...very frustrating. If your other cats have been vaccinated, it is up to you whether you want to allow them together. Many of us have both, negatives and positives and many of us do allow them together. There is mixed feelings about it. Three that I have, got it from the original carrier, before being vaccinated and the little sick one had it when I got him. To my knowledge, none of the ones isolated, vaccinated then allowed out in the house, have gotten the disease. Will that last forever? I don't know. Anyway, again welcome to the group. You will have plenty of suggestions and ideas to think about. barb -------------------------------------- END
