Glad some of you are still talking to me after my boo boo. Russian going in Wednesday for a checkup. No results on lung culture yet. Still force feeding her but pretty sure it is because of her teeth. Vet says both canine in top need out. So she has double the pain. Cannot give her pain meds, guess there is only shot type. Vet will not use anything on her but amoxyllin right now. She's hurting bad. If she checks out okay they want to do teeth on Thursday. I worry about her being put under after being so sick. They will try to do it quick. Wrote Michele, hope she stays on line. All of you are big help in hour of need. Thanks to all your kind words, she has decided to stay. Smeal" Subject: Re: Taking you off the list Jim: Thanks for the kind words and thoughtfulness. It is the hardest thing I've ever done and I just keep thinking, did I make that awful decision too soon? He wasn't crying in pain, but his dear little mouth was so sore he could not enjoy eating and the smell from his infected mouth was probably unbearable for him and I know I wanted to scoop him off the table and say "I'm taking him home!" But, what was best for Benny? He was through 2 transfusions, surgery and all kinds of meds shoved down his throat. I guess I don't want to be removed from the list just yet. Everyone has helped me so much and I printed off the letters and will read them again to help me throughout this terrible ordeal. I know Benny wants me to be strong for him, but right now it seems my life is over. I know time heals, not completely, but I can never forgive this deadly disease that took the life of my sweetheart. Just being around people helps. When I'm alone in the car or alone at the house, I cry so much. I can see my little guy sitting in his carrier looking out or sitting on my lap cuddled up. You can forward this to our friends on felvtalk, Jim. Thanks so much for caring and I know you all share in my pain. As I read stories today from all the sweet folks here, tears came to my eyes and I know we are truly a family. We've unfortunately had at least five other people leave in recent weeks citing that the volume was the problem :( I do not, however, wish to do anything to stop people from writing in. The only thing I can suggest is that people keep messages on topic about FeLV- yes, that includes the support we've been giving to those in need. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to creating a "newsgroup" yet. That takes at least a month due to the nature of establishing a Usenet newsgroup. It has to be voted on with at least 100 voters saying yes and far fewer saying no. I am looking into it, though, as I feel that there is a need for one. Between that, trying to create a newsletter, and creating a FeLV FAQ, I hope I can find time to do this :) If, however, you are referring to the archives pages, you can find them at: http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Spa/8025/ Since you will no longer be a member of the group, you'll need to send your replies and assistance info to me, and I'll forward it to the list. You've been a great asset here, and I hope that you can contribute to our discussions. Take care, and best wishes to you for all of your future endeavors. Is there any way we can just forward those emails to him that specifically need his advice? He has been so wonderful to answer everyone's questions, as I'm sure he is very busy. It has also been another voice of authority to ask questions of and receive advice from. It would be a shame to lose him completely. -------------------------------------- From: "phaedrus" To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Date sent: Mon, 9 Feb 1998 19:05:27 +0000 Subject: Future messages for Dr. Myers Copies to: Tookie Myers Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hello everyone, In the future, I will be forwarding any veterinary related mail to Dr. Myers and relaying his responses back to the list. I truly appreciate everyone here's experience but Dr. Meyer's medical info was totally invaluable to us all. This is the stuff that I print off & take to my vet for our files due to it's medical importance. I don't know too many practicing vets that actually have time to read constantly through medical journals regarding specific disease & Dr. Meyers info could be saving lives. I do not know why Dr. Meyers has a particular interest in FelV but I for one am glad he does. Please keep up the good work. I appreciate what you & do. She has just written a story that may benefit us all- especially Michele. Her name is Anne Kolaczyk, and you can find her story at: http://www.nd.edu/~akolaczy/choices.html Let me know if you have trouble accessing it, and I'll forward a copy to you personally. This is a beautiful story that will at first bring lots of tears to your eyes. But as you read on, you'll find that it may start to help the healing process. If you haven't read "The Rainbow Bridge", you'll want read that first. You can find a copy of it at: http://www.angelfire.com/il/felv/rainbow.html These are both wonderful stories that can give us some hope that we may again someday be with our lost loved ones. Can't find my glasses and I'm getting a splitting headache. Anyway, Do get those teeth out asap. I'm surprised it is taking so long for a culture to come back. Should only take about 3 days from the time the lab received it. You should have at least a preliminary report by now. Even tho it may seem cruel, as little anesthesia as possible would be best. keep us updated.
