I had to wait until late tonight so not to tie up the phone too long. I was anxious to hear how all were doing especially Russian, Rissa-tai, & Benny. Thanks for the info re Amoxycillan & was interested to read about the separation issue as my 3 positives are kept in a separate building from my others. I have been wondering whether the germ is even being carried on my feet or hands as I come & go out to them. I never wash my hands before I touch my - cats. So glad to hear that everyone is on the mend for now as this gives us all a little more encouragement to fight on for our Fur Babies!! Good night everyone from West coast of Canada! Sorry to still be on about this but as my 3 are asympomatic I wonder if I should take the most natural yet less invasive method? I am going in to my vet on Sat. so may find out more then. I gave her all the info Joan sent me to read & now I will take in what I have printed off here. There is so much frustration with this disease as no one quite know the right ways to treat the disease. I often wonder whether the medicine used to treat the disease is often more harmful espescially to an asymptmatic cat. of course cost does play a factor in the treatment as well. I would appreciate it greatly if you could locate that article again for me. Thanks so much for your help. You are a wealth of knowledge & experience not to mention great for moral support. I hope you will be here for me should I ever need it. Hope he starts to improve. You have a good vet to call you back in the am. My old one would tell us to go to the emergency vet 1/2 hr. away. Needless to say he does not know he's fired yet. I keep all the kitties in my prayers. Maybe Benny is having just a bad episode. If you ever had surgery the recovery can be just as bad. Give him a hug for me. Still a little terror. When they give Amoxycillan do you give it on an empty so it is better with food? Smeal" Subject: Benny--not so good Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hi Friends: I have been up since 1:30 am with Benny. He cried out again like the early, early morning (3 am) when he had to get something for pain from my former vet clinic (because they were closer). That is when he had the mass though and that's gone now, but when I heard him crying I got that sick feeling all over again. He is pretty lethargic and hasn't done much moving around lately. I called my vet's answering service at 1:30 am and my Dr. called me back about 15 min. later. He stopped crying from when I hung up w/the answering service and when my vet called. Dr. Rider said it may be that there is a lot going on inside him due to the surgery. Dr. Rider is off today. His stool is gray, some, this am was runny. I didn't realize it since he's been going in the litter so well the past few days, but he went on the floor. God love him. I saw him earlier going to the potty and the whole front part of his body was out on the floor and his little behind was in he litter box. I just want him to be better and I am looking for a miracle. I know it helps when you guys say prayers and my little Benny needs a lot pf prayers right now. He had been doing so well. I am NOT giving up on him. PLEASE, PLEASE say as many prayers as you can, Benny needs them. Thank You, Michele and Benny Michele R. Smeal mrb2@psu.edu 107 Ritenour Bldg. Adding digestive enzymes to his feeding regimen should help with the diarrhea. M. W. So, Dr. Rider just called me here at work & told me that he is anemic again and they will do one more blood transfusion and after that he said we should say "we've done all we can do" and not put him through any more pain, stress. He said he's getting anemic again and white. He finally slept, in my lap this morning for an hour at the animal hospital's parking lot in the car with me. His sweet little face awoke and he was looking up at me with dried cat food on his chin and nose. I can't remove it. He has beautiful blue eyes and this am very early I knew something was happening when his eyes weren't wide open like usual. He hasn't slept much lately either. The LAST thing Dr. Rider said before he hung up was "Keep your fingers crossed:....so PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE will you all keep your fingers crossed? This is so hard. I feel like I AM DYING. Michele R. Smeal mrb2@psu.edu 107 Ritenour Bldg. Believe me, I KNOW how hard this is on the both of you. Perhaps this transfusion will kick in long enough to get the other meds working. Needless to say, you are in my thoughts . . . AND I will be keeping my fingers crossed for the both of you. Lots of love, concern, and good wishes are being sent your way . . . Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Cheryl and Michael, Just saw your message and thought I'd pass this on to you. I have heard that cats eat litter because it contains clay and clay is supposedly a natural healer and detoxifer. One woman written up in Prevention Magazine years ago had a very ill FELV+ cat that she would rub green clay from the health food store into its coat to make it lick it off. . amongst other natural substances and vitamins, etc. The cat made a complete recovery, and I believe, when I read the article . . . it had been some years that this cat had been sick.
