She has even brought back a cat that was on it's death bed back. We start treatment tomorrow. So for those out there that aren't seeing much change with the Interferon, talk to your vet about Acemannan. I am praying that this choice of treatment works. I will keep you all posted. It has been kind of an elusive medication. No oral dose only Intraperitanel or directly into a tumor. We have some in the group who's cats have tumors of one type or another. Please take lots of notes from your vet, such as where, how much, how given, how often. Anything would be appreciated. Get the one with iron if Benny is anemic. You might try some calves liver also. Dilute the liquid baby vitamins. I give about 2cc mixed with water. Merlin hates them, but I know they help him. (my kids hated them to) The problem with putting them in the food is the little stinkers tend to be picky eaters and may not get what they need. If Benny will eat a regular cat vitamin, all the better. Mine won't touch them, but my brothers cats love them, you can just never tell. They need to really chew on something sometimes. Mine eat both and I have had many problems, but mouth sores wasn't one of them, thank goodness. barb -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 20:58:02 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Vaccinations: Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Belinda, Your question about the vaccinations is an interesting one. I do know there is no point in vaccinating your positive cat, because he already has it. It is the one's who were positive, and now are negative. They must be in that group that was able to beat the disease on their own (about one-third do) I guess I would wonder, do they need it? Since they beat it already?? That's a good one for Dr. Myers. I would guess it wouldn't hurt. As they get older, their immunitiy may taper off. They love it and it gives them some extra vitamins. They still get c/d for dry food and a little wet food in the morning and evening. I mix cranberry podwer into the wet food as Kitty gets urinary infections easily. It does help. Have you looked at the library for The Natural Cat Care book? It is excellent. This web site also has helped both me and my vet. THankfully she is very willing to investigate new treatments. Keep us posted. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Benny. If they are adults, there is no set protocol I am aware of, just let your vet monitor them and determine when he feels they should stop or adjust the regimen. M. W. I have heard that vaccines are not indicated in positive cats, however I routinely vaccinate them and feel they may actually be beneficial. M. W. If you can get in his mouth I recommend the use of Oxyfresh Gel massaged onto his gums and Oxyfresh Pet Deodorizer in his water. These products are very helpful in all forms of periodontal disease. I gave Selena a tab, diluted in water earlier today, and she looked as if I had hit her with a load of cement ! Tonight she's looking less groggy, and since that tab was the only different thing about today, I thought I'd ask. She's on Clavamox for the URI , my vet said we'd have to treat the URI "aggressively", meaning she may have to stay on it for some time.... AWRGH !!!! thanks, .mg. -------------------------------------- Date sent: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 23:06:58 -0500 From: "M. Woodrow Myers, D.V.M." Organization: Vet Care, Etc., P. C. To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: D.M.G. Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net I have not heard of any bad reactions, but this is not to say they cannot occur. Hold off any further trials until I can contact the Vetri Science Corp and see what they have to say about this. If you did not use DMG produced by the Vetri Science company it is possible that it contained impurities that caused the problem. Their products are not as cheap as some of the generics out there, but I have had such good responses from their products I generally don't use others even though I am aware that some of the others seem to work okay. I guess that's where the similarities end. I will hold off with these tabs and I thank you for your attention. .mg. -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator@aol.com Date sent: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 23:05:49 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: (Fwd) PLEASE, PLEASE HELP MY LITTLE BENNY Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Michele, Got tied up helping my son with his taxes. Will have to tell you Merlin's story sometime. Promise to write more tomorrow. Benny sounds like he is doing well, despite the mouth sores. Oh, baby food is ok, just make sure it doesn't have any onion salt or onion flavoring. Heinz I think is good one. No onions, it causes anemia in cats. Barb -------------------------------------- END
