He goes downhill very fast and he has been feeling pretty good now for the past couple of weeks. What I was wondering is how long can I give the immunoregulin twice a week? He seems to do better when I give it to him. When he gets very sick, I give it to him and he gets better. I also give him the interferon, since Christmas, every seven days on and off. He suffers greatly with ginivitis. I give him antirobe aquadrops also every day. -------------------------------------- From: "Steve Lackow" To: Subject: Re: Re:Need home for FIV CAT Date sent: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 10:39:45 -0800 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Linda, I would suggest calling Operation Kindness in Carrollton, 972-418-PAWS (7297). I don't think they will be able to take the cat, but they may be able to suggest a place that can or help you network. -- Steve -------------------------------------- From: "Lynn Stickels" To: "felvtalk" Subject: re: sinus infection Date sent: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 10:41:02 -0800 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net My little kitty with the sinus infection is doing much better.:) I kept with the interferon and the vaporizer. To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: immunoregulin Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Dear Lynn, Add 100mg of dimethylglycine to his regimen once daily, forever. This will further assist his immunity. You can give immunoregulin indefinitely as long as he doesn't develop an allergy to it. Addition of antioxidants and CoQ10 will assist his gingivitis as will Oxyfresh pet deodorizer in his water and Oxyfresh pet gel applied to his gums. Be careful of long term administraton of Antirobe (clindamycin) as it can set up a colitis. I would try to alternate with doxycycline and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (Clavamox). M. W. I asked my vet for the shampoo you recommended but he didn't have it so he gave me something similar. I bathed the cats who had the scabs and it has helped quite a bit. The neosynefrin, I didn't have to use afterall. I was interested in the other decongestant you mentioned though. I will ask for it next time I have that problem, hopefully not! Thanks again..................Lynn(Stinker) -------------------------------------- From: "Claude Horstmann" To: Subject: Selena on Board Date sent: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 14:41:24 -0500 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Hello. I've been lurking in the ethers reading messages here for the past week, and catching up on pertinent info in the Archives. I feel like someone who has arrived late for a dinner party. My kitten's name is Selena, and she could be a poster-cat for the beneficial effects of Interferon. She was born with this dis-ease, and nearly died in Nov 1996, when she was only 10 weeks old. She's been on Interferon since then. Her dose has been 1 tps P.O. b.i.d., and we were blessed with a remarkably care-free kittenhood. Bringing her through that crisis period tho is reflected in the stories of hand feeding every few hours, keeping her warm, monitoring her intake and output. We are now battling an upper resp infection, she's on Clavamox, still on Interferon, and thanks to this List, I have added Nutri-Cal to the protocol. Hand feeding goes without saying. My question today, and the reason I'm coming out of the "cyber-space-closet" is directed to "dimethylglycine".. it's use, and availability. Thanks, marilyn -------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 14:45:31 -0500 From: "Carlene C. Myers" Organization: Vet Care, Etc., P. C. The Colorado vet said this was because she was a Manx. Could it be from FeLV? She has tested postive. To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Selena on Board Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net The urinary tract infection can be from either or both situations. I would recommend immunotherapy for her FeLV and an excretory urogram to see how her urinary tract is put together. M. W. I just got off the phone with my Vet. He looked Vetricine up in his P.D.R. and told me that it's usually used for horses, basically meant as a nutritional drug. But, he's INTRIGUED with the notion of it's use in treating FeLV (assisting the immune system) and he will do some research, and I told him I would try and find out more too. Would you be so kind as to help me ? Thanks, marilyn -------------------------------------- Date sent: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 15:47:33 -0500 From: "M. Woodrow Myers, D.V.M." Organization: Vet Care, Etc., P. C. To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Vetricine Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Vetricine is NNdimethylglycine, an amino acid that acts as a T cell stimulator. I have used it in laboratory cat colonies for control of upper respiratory disease and in FeLV positive as an assist in maintenance. In both cases it has proven beneficial. The manufacturer, Vetri Science Corp, would be happy to send your veterinarian all of their scientific data they have on its use. M. W. Called him back, and he too had done some investigating,it IS available for cats and dogs (well... YOU knew that) and he will do some more looking and see if he can order it-it's cost unknown at this time. He also thought that this might be available in Health food stores ? Another point of light Dr., thank you ! marilyn -------------------------------------- From: Newtanator Date sent: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 16:55:17 EST To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: VetriCine Organization: AOL (http://www.aol.com) Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net All This is the great thing about this group. We are always finding new things. Dr, your addition is great! It might be interesting to note that ImmunoRegulin is also used in horses and in dogs for severe dermatitis. It's use for cats with FeLV is off label and is really being picked up on as a great asset for us.
