If long term therapy seems to be indicated then every 2 to 3 days seems to be best. It is given orally. I always include dimethylglycine in the regimen, giving approximately 50 to 100 mg daily. You really shouldn't have any particular wait after having an FeLV positive cat removed from the household. It is transmitted cat to cat via mutual grooming. I am not aware of it having much ability to live outside the cat for any length of time. If you were to wait about a month and thoroughly clean areas where the infected cat had been, this would ensure a very low probability of transmission. M. W. It also inhibits a portion of the immune system called the "slow reacting substances of anaphylaxis". While it may alleviate certain symptoms associated with this internal system, it is unlikely that it would carry any long term beneficial effect to stop viral replication or assist in viral elimination. I am vaguely familiar with the antibiotic you mention, but have not used it. I have used a combination of rifampin either with erythromycin or enrofloxacin for stubbborn, long term infections with abcessation with some success. M. W. If you remember how many bad things happened with the Blockade product and it is still being sold. Most drug companies are driven by shareholder profits and will drop products when they are no longer sufficiently profitable. M. W. Myers, D.V.M. -------------------------------------- END
