I have it in a picture frame along with pictures of Sasha. It really does help but its just hard to believe that she is gone. She was so special in so many ways its hard to explain it to people. She always gave so much of herself without asking for much in return. The hardest part is that she struggled so hard in the end to breath and I couldn't do anything to help her. She was just gone in 20 minutes. I know in my heart that she is much happier now and I truly need to believe that the Rainbow Bridge does esist but I miss her so very much. Thanks again for your very kind thoughts. We all know how you feel and that this is a very difficult time for you. I had heard references to The Rainbow Bridge, but Jennifer's message was the first time I had read the story of it. What a wonderful thought to take with you during this difficult time. When my first cat, Goliath, died my vet sent me a condolence card with a poem that I framed along with my favorite pictures of him. We also read it at his funeral. I hope it can give you some small comfort. Leslie ...Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you... I loved you so--- 'twas Heaven here with you. Any and everything helps a little but the ache is still there. I know in my heart that I did everything I could but my head keeps telling me that I could have done something more. I don't know what but something. I know Sasha is in a better place and chasing butterflies and waiting for me to come. But in the mornings my dear little girl is not here to greet me and look at me like she used to to say, o.k., whats up for the day. I know I should be grateful for the time I had with her but I just wish there had been more. Thanks again. Not so happy news this time. One of them tested positive, Rowdy. She is very healthy though and has never been sick. She's about 5 years old. I started her on the routine immunoregulin along with my other kitty. It seems to have perked up the one I already started. I just don't really know if I'm doing the right thing. I would think it wouldn't hurt them, it might not make any difference one way or the other but I thought I would be at least doing something. I take in my last ones this week to be tested. Sometimes, I get so confused. My vet has left it up to me and I don't really know what the heck I'm doing! I am feeling kind of discouraged as my Stinker kitty is starting to go down since yesterday. It starts off with vomiting and then downhill from there. I don't even know whether to give him his interferon and antibiotics today or to just leave him alone. The lymph nodes under his chin are extremely large. Maybe the mouth infection is just taking over. I will call my vet tomorrow as he's off today. He will probably just say he can't do anything but who knows? I imagine the antirobe antibiotic he's taking is no longer working. My emotions go into a different mode when he goes down, I guess a defense and preparation for the worse. But, then again, he's done this to me for over a year and a half now. I know that one time it will be the last. I guess that's all I have to say. It's nice to be able to vent my feelings and questions to you all...................Lynn(Stinker) -------------------------------------- From: "AZ-HART" To: Subject: Re: Merlin update Date sent: Mon, 19 Jan 1998 11:57:55 -0700 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Barb, How old is Merlin? I feel so bad for him, with his ear problems and eye problem. Which reminds me, my vet said to call her about getting Interferon in to start "Topez" on it. She has the iris problem. It's so hard, especially when they're FeLV+. My vet has told me that she does not put healthy, symptom-free FeLV+ cats on any meds. I don't know what concensus is on this issue, but I'm wondering if your Vet suggested putting them on the Immunoregulin with them not having symptoms? My vet also does not seem to like Immunoregulin. She uses interferon when she prescribes for an FeLV+ kitty with problems. This is just one vet's opinion, of course. I had 3 out of 10, (that's what I had at the time) test positive. Which is exactly what the odds say I should have had. Don't dispair. That cat is healthy and can live to be very old without any symptoms at all. We just never know. I gave all of mine the round of treatments with ImmunoRegulin and all are robustly healthy after over a year. I have done nothing else to them. Merlin is on the edge now. I know that, but I will not give up as long as he keeps fighting back. It is possible that stinkers swollen lymph glands mean it has evolved to lymphosarcoma. If it has, the ImmunoRegulin will not help. But they could just be swollen! You need to know which it is because the treatment is different. We all face this knowing there is no cure. We just try to keep it at bay and under control. Sometimes we lose. I know, I have lost twice already, but I also have 3 that are healthy and one that is still giving it all he's got. I survive by taking it a day at a time. I kiss Merlin everytime I go by him and give him a pet. I enjoy every minute and am thankful for it. He made my morning by stretching! A simple little butt in the air stretch. But a few weeks ago he couldn't control his bladder or hold up is head so I was thrilled! I may still lose him, but I will know that like you, I am doing everything in my power to make him well. That's all we can do. The rest is up to them and their will to live. Do what you can and what will be, will be. We who have felv cats have to accept that, hard as it is. Be strong and know that we are all here for you and stinker. His eye is no worse today and I am watching it closely. I have read this kind of problem is very common in felv cats. His ears are still a mess, but don't seem as touchy as they were. I am flushing them with warm water to loosen up the mess. Seems to be working fairly well. He doesn't like it, because he doesn't like getting wet, but it is necessary. It's amazing how strong he can be when I'm doing something he doesn't like! barb -------------------------------------- From: "Lynn Stickels" To: "felvtalk" Subject: Barb Date sent: Mon, 19 Jan 1998 12:15:34 -0800 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Barb, Thanks!
