Schmall" To: felvtalk@MailingList.net Subject: Re: Nancy Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Carol, "Chasing butterflies" is exactly the way I pictured my first dog after she had died--and I really believe(d) that is exactly what she was and IS doing while she and all my other beloved friends wait for me. When my first cat, "Angel," died (he was only one year old--they didn't know what was wrong with him, but looking back, my vet thinks it may have been the dry form of FIP), I was going to bury him next to his brother at my ex-husband's house (we had a graveyard for our critters). My vet suggested I might want him near to me--that he would like that--so I buried him near to my trailer where I could visit and talk with him every day. This felt really good to me. I make a habit of keeping their "spirits" somewhere near where I feel I haven't lost touch with them completely. I guess what I'm saying is I think "finding a special place for little Sasha" is a wonderful idea. Keeping her close will help her feel more comfortable as she makes her way into that beautiful garden and make YOU still feel close to her. I know her parting really hurts; I think everyone on this page knows what you're going through and wishes that somehow our collective thoughts and prayers can see you through this more easily. In loving memory of Sasha . . . She said to stop the Trifluridine, and stop the BNP+Cort. She also said the there are many components to the immune system, and to leave "Topaz" on the prednizone once she starts taking Interferon, because the part of the immune system the Prednizone is helping is to suppress the buildup of the Fibrogen mass in her eye. She had talked to a Dr. Macy at Colorado State University. She any vets (they will only talk to veterinarians) should call and talk to either him or Dr. Lappin if they are interested in what research they are doing and at what dosages. Do not feel guilty--you did all you could. I too, lost Puff, and like you, did extensive research and really spent most of my time trying to save her life. Unfortunately (or fortunately) our cats are alive, and therefore are subject to disease and death just as we humans are. I am still tearful about Puff's death (which was a year ago January ),but I also know that she was very happy for most of her time with us. She was a rescued stray, and I knew going in that she was FELV+. We had Puff for about a year and a half and she was less that 3 when she died. She loved every moment she had with us--as we did with her. She was a cat that purred often, gave hugs and kisses and just wrapped herself around one like a scarf. I feel that Sasha, like Puff, had a great quality of life and sometimes that life is just not long enough. In all my pain I forgot about Merlin. Is he doing any better? I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. What will be, will be. I have learned to accept that over the past two years. I do everything that I can, but it turns out not be enough, then Merlin will be at the bridge with Newt and Kallie waiting for me and the others. Whether I am blessed with Merlin for just a few short months or several years, he will always have a place in my heart. I know he has never wanted for anything, suffered cruelty, been hungry or cold. He has known only love. Like your Sasha. Should the worst happen, he will not be alone, he will never be alone. If it is time for him to leave me, he will join my friends. I truly believe that. Know that we all grieve for you and your family for Sasha. Every time someone looses one we all feel it because we have been there and know the hurt. What I usually tell them is this. When the grieving has eased, open your home and heart to another little soul, lost in the night and know that Sasha has brought him to you to protect in her stead. The hole will still be there, but not quite as big as before. His ears are still a huge problem and he is now on his third different antibiotic for it. He has so much junk in his ears his eardrums aren't even visable. I just pray the rinses I'm doing are being stopped by an intact eardrum somewhere down in that mess. His eye is doing strange things also, which I have described in other letters. He did eat a little better tonight, his favorites tuna and chicken are hard for him to turn down. A little onion free baby food as a topping and he seems to like that. He is also getting some homeopathic meds and tho he doesn't like them much, I think they are helping. He did eat better and tho he had a touch of diarrhea last night, that has stopped. He licks up his nutri-cal very well and I still think if I can break up the log jam in his ears, he will be much better off. Well, I think that's about it for now. He is holding his own and holding at 5 lbs., but he is a small cat. Overall, only a one lb. loss since getting sick 2 months ago. Considering what he has been thru, I don't think that's to bad. I am so very sorry that your kitty died. I know the love that you must have had for her and the love she had for you. Always remember that. There is nothing more you could have done, nor is there anything "wrong" that you did. God bless you and heal your hurt. He has Sasha now and she has no more pain, only happiness. I do have a great health food store right down the street. I have been there several times and thanks to all the replies it looks like I have a new shopping list. :) Copley went to the vet today. Unfortunately, he continues to lose weight. He has gone from 7 1/2 to 6 1/2 pounds over the last couple weeks. I picked up the a/d food. They said it was no problem how much he eats, so I bought alot. He finished a whole can in a half a day. He has been eating constantly just not gaining weight. I'll see what happens over the next week. He was slightly more alert today than the past week, but of course, the concern is still very much there. My vet really insisted that I take him to another vet that specializes in nutrition, vitamins, herbs, ect. I had Copley's records faxed over there last night and now I'm waiting for a reply with suggestions on what to feed him. The fungus, although still spreading, is improving. He has very little hair on his face, but most of the scaly patches are gone. If anyone saw Gremlins he looks just like Stripe. Fortunately, he only has Stripe's personality at the vet now and again. The baths have been quite an experience! Because he is so small and thin when he is wet he pretty well disappears. Now I'm just waiting for the high calorie food to kick in and the other vet's suggestions. In the meantime, I am trying everything mentioned. -------------------------------------- From: "Cheri Gardiner" To: Subject: Re: Sasha Date sent: Sat, 17 Jan 1998 20:41:40 -0600 Send reply to: felvtalk@MailingList.net Carol, Remember you will meet Sasha at the Rainbow Bridge. She's waiting for you. She had a good life and a good mother. Don't blame yourself. I truly believe our cats love us as we love them. Sasha won't want you to be sad. Think how free she is! I do know how you feel though. I lost my Mickey in November. Just remember the good life Sasha had. Cheri G., Kitty & Chaz -------------------------------------- END OF PART 2
