- It
creates suspense because it gives the reader more time to think about if
Farquhar is good or bad.
- He’s
perception of time gives us the idea that he got away and he’s brain is
thinking quickly from the time that he drops to the time that he’s neck
snaps and the whole story takes place in a matter of seconds
- The
narrator has thinks that Farquhar has the character of a civilian and a
heart of a soldier and that everyone’s time will come in war.
- In
he’s search to become a soldier he was caught killed like a soldier. That
the federal scout tricked him and lead him to his
death and Farquhar still thought all is fair in love and war.
- He’s
necked ached horribly, he’s brain was on fire, he’s heart tried to force
itself out of he’s mouth, he was thirsty, he could no longer closes his
eyes , he’s neck felt swollen and aspiration filled his lungs. He is
thinking about getting away and forgets about the hanging but still fells
the effects.
- The
story is not realistic but very detailed in all the things that he sees
and does. When the reader reads the story they feel that this is really
happening now but from details in the story tell the reader that he is
feeling the effects of the hanging.
- Limited
third person works in this story because if we had the perspective of anyone
else we would know Fahrquhar was dead and it wouldn’t be as interesting.
