Democracy is a form of government
where the citizens of that country run that country. They do this by electing
one person to represent them as a whole. In
One disadvantage to democracy is income tax. Income taxes were first started during the civil war by President Lincoln because the cost of the war was so high. The idea was that after the war they would stop the taxing but because of the on going debt it never was stopped. Today it is unfair because you have no say in where your tax money is going and it isn’t even helping the debt crisis. Also I think it’s unfair that had working citizens have to give some of their tax money to the illegal aliens who are on welfare. Most of them don’t even pay taxes and they go home and spend all our money in their own country. I understand that they have harder conditions were they live but our own people are being put out of jobs or having to work two or three jobs to make ends meat and the money is going to illegal people.
Besides the few disadvantages I think the country does a pretty good job of keeping everything in order and making sure that the people are happy and everything is justified. I am so lucky I live in a free nation where you can say whatever you want, write whatever you want, believe in whatever you want and do whatever you want. Everybody has justice and is represented in the best way possible, through Democracy.
In some ways I agree with Liz and in some ways I don’t. I think it is very true that it isn’t right that people who are too lazy to vote don’t and complain about the president or the way things are run in our country if they felt it wasn’t important to vote in the first place. I also know that of course that not everyone is going to be happy in a majority vote and that everyone has a different view but the point of a majority vote is that three fourth of the people agree on one thing. It is human nature not to agree with everything some one else says that is why we have to main parties in government because not everyone wants the same thing. I do how ever disagree on what you said about democracy. Of course there is no perfect democracy because no one is perfect but democracy is a lot better than most governments. I don’t think that some one is going to have the view point that a dictatorship is better than democracy unless that person is the dictator them self. We are lucky to have the freedoms that we do. In some countries women are treated as pieces of property and must be concealed and can not talk except to their husbands. I’m sure they would rather have a democracy. In other places children are sold and have to work as slaves and do had labor without pay. I bet they think democracy is better. It would be terrible t be stuck in our country and not allowed to leave for a better life or have no freedoms. I think the only people who aren’t in favor of democracy are usually corrupt or power hungry.
