The Magna Carta was signed by King John in 1215 because his nobles got angry that he was heavily taxing them and taking advantage his power. Made it so kings could not abuse their power and that they had to recognize the power of the townspeople and the church. It made it so that nobles had certain rights and that the king could not break the law. This helped the people of England very much and gave them back their rights. The Patriot Act is almost opposite in that it gives the president more freedom in a time of war and also he can get away with a few things he normally couldn’t. Although in the Patriot Act the citizens of America still have all there rights. I think this act comes in very handy in a time of war if the president doesn’t take it for granted and over uses his authority. Many can say that the Patriot Act is bad because it gives the president and law enforcement officials the rights to tap into communications that have to do with terrorism, share criminal investigative information, designation of judges and access to records and other items under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. I think is good though because it is stopping terrorism in the world today. If this power is used correctly it can protect America and safe many people from terrorists. I believe that because of the   Patriot Act our world can be a better place and the nation will be safer and that it is just.

I agree with everyone that thinks that the Patriot Act is a good idea and I agree with Jason about President Bush. I think that the Patriot Act is used to benefit the whole world. The President is not using his power for personal reasons, he is using it to rid the world of terrorism and keep the United States safe. If this act was not in place 9-11 could happen all over again. If we know information about the terrorists we can learn to stop them before they hurt more innocent people. We are not only doing this for our country but for all the countries that are facing terrorism. We are not the only ones being bullied by the terrorists there have been killings other places too. That is why through the Patriot Act we are helping the whole world and not just ourselves. I think that the president is doing very well in handling the freedom and making sure that he doesn’t abuse it like King John in 1215. I think his is being careful to make sure that the American people agree with this act and they do not feel threatened by his power. The Untied States military has kept us safe through out this time of war and they could have not done as great of a job as they are doing if they didn’t have information they are only aloud to get because the Patriot Act is in place. The pros of this act over ride the cons and that’s why I think that this is a good idea. We can go a lot father in the world with the things we have learned from this. It has really helped our nation and other nations fight the war on terrorism.
