Caesar Analysis

My group chose to reenact the scene where everyone is at the capitol and they are going to kill Caesar. We chose this scene because it is a crucial part of the play and there are many characters in it for everyone to play. I played Cassius and in this scene Shakespeare reveals about my character many things such as that he is paranoid and also that he is very political. Cassius is the one who made up the whole plan to kill Caesar so I think that is why he is the most excited yet scared to kill Caesar. My characters spiritual motivation is his own self-will. I say this because in this play they never talk about any gods so Cassius’s self-will has to play that part. Cassius psychological motivation is the excuse that Caesar is too ambitious and also the pure fact that Cassius hate Caesar from the beginning.  Cassius social motivation is the fact that there is a small group of men that have decided to join Cassius in order to kill Caesar. These men keep Cassius motivated and sane up until the killing. All these motivations together make it so that Cassius really does go through with the act of killing Caesar. After reenacting this scene I have found many new things that I did not realize about my character’s qualities. For example I found that Cassius talks a big game but is actually a little timid when he is pressured about it. Also I learned that Cassius is very paranoid and that the group always has to keep him in check. Lastly I learned that Cassius is very political and a strong and influencing leader. He influenced all these men to kill Caesar which is a very political matter and lead them up to the death even though he made it seem as though Brutus was leading them in fact Cassius was behind the scenes leading Brutus to lead the group. I learned a lot from this project and had lots of fun playing Cassius.
