Caesar Questions # 8 & 9 a-c

# 8.

a.       Brutus says that the crowd should believe him because Caesar was too ambitious for his own good, he wanted power too much and he was going to ruin Rome.

b.      In the play it uses antithetical words 12 times. The effect is that it makes it look like what Brutus did was right.

c.       “There is tears for his love; joy for his fortune; honor for his valour; and death for his ambition.” This statement would win over the crowd because Brutus is trying to say that he was his friend and even he could recognize that Caesar was being too ambitious.

# 9.

a.       The first time that Antony says honorable he is trying to back up Brutus a little to get the support of the crowd, but then he starts talking about how it was wrong to kill Caesar and uses the word to show irony. At the end he uses the last honorable to rally up the crowd and show them what Brutus did was wrong.

b.      Antony makes ten good points about Caesar after he says he is not going to.

c.       Antony says that Caesar was not ambitious but he had the ambition to make Rome great. He also implies that Brutus is a liar for calling Caesar ambitious.
