THE ABYSSINIAN
If you are in search of a cat, and the list of your expectations includes features like: an active, athletic, remarkably intelligent cat and extremely close to his human companions, you are probably a good candidate an abyssinian in your home. Therefore before choosing one of those lazy cats, you must take a look at this phenomenon of the feline world. He is one of the most popular cats in the world, it's up to you to find out why.
Loving, the abyssinian doesn't lose any occasion to demonstrate it to you. Your house will quickly become his house, he will quickly take over a place of choice. Of good character,he won't be impressed by much. He likes to run and jump (what he does very well). He will enjoy your company and that of other people in general. Curious, he will want to know what you are doing and even he will be tempted to help you in the execution of your daily tasks (of coursein his own way).
The abyssin takes his name from Ethiopia (originally Abyssinie), from where the first subject was introduced in England. A mystery exists on the faraway origins of the Abyssinian. However, the similarity of bone structure with some of the sacred cats of Egypt mummified, exhumed by the hundreds, is disturbing. Others advance the hypothesis that the abyssinian would be the result of a genetic selection, done by the English, implying a domestic cat, the English short hair. Geneticists say, for their part, the hypothesis that the Abyssinian would be originally from the coasts of the Indian ocean, in the south part of Asia. He probably arrived by way of the important sea harbor of the time, Calcutta.

From a physical point of view, the abyssin's head is rounded and without flattened zones. Ears are long, pointed and large at the base. His big almond eyes in green, yellow or topaz are brilliant and expressive. The tail is long and well stocked and his skeleton is medium in structure. The fur is short, thin and compact, having a brilliant coloration and a pronounced "ticking". The official colors are: ruddy, sorrel (red), blue and fawn. Recently, especially in Europe, the apparition of silver and several other colors brought the recognition of various new colors within various feline associations. These colors are not at this time recognized in Canada and USA
Don't believe that the abyssin is an excited cat, it is just a " little" exuberant with his affection. He will follow you everywhere in the house, will supervise the door when you enter in a room without him. He will wake you up gently in the morning to get your attention, will help youto get ready in the morning, etc.. He will have a good temperament with children, will wait for you at the door or supervise your return from the window, moreover, he will be able to understand some simple basic commands.. In face, from serveral points of view, especially because of his behavior, the abyssin is the perfect cat for the "dog lover". One thing is certain, with a abyssinian as a companion, you will never be able to complain that no one pays attention to you or doesn't care about you.
The abyssinian is not for everyone, especially if you like those large sedentary cats who spend their time sleeping or hidden under the bed. On the other hand, if you like an active, athletic, loving and intelligent cat, who will share with you the risks of daily life, and take pleasure demonstrating his affection, then, the abyssin is for you and you for him!
