On Saturday, November 27th, I entered my first C.A.S.L (California Amaetur Skateboard League) competition, which took place at Skate Lab in Simi Valley.

We started the day out at the
Encinitas skate park down towards San Diego (thanks Garret for directions).  The Encinitas park was great and we skated there for about an hour before heading up towards Simi Valley (long drive).  On the way to Skate Lab, we stopped off at the Etnies Skate Park, which is awesome!  We skated the Etnies Skate Park for about an hour then it started to rain (darn).  We left the Etnies park and as we drove up the 5 frwy, the rain followed us all the way to Skate Lab and made for an interesting drive.  We finally made it to Skate Lab just in time for me to take one practice run before my competition run.  I guess being in the car for three hours didn't help, but having my of my local Fontana skate friends there to cheer me on did help me feel more relaxed.  I did ok in my first run, then did much better in my second run.  I was the only girl competiting against 12 guys and I ended up taking 7th place.  I was only 1.2 points out of 3rd place, so I guess I did ok.  It was my first competition against all guys and it was a lot of fun!  Afterwards, I did an interview for an up coming skate documentary and they took some footage of me skating.  I skated much better during the filming than in the competition.

All in all it was a great time at
Skate Lab and now I know what to expect in my next C.A.S.L competition, which will be the California State Championships at Woodward West on December 11th.  Wish me luck!
