                                                              Radio Show (8th Grade)

The 8th Grade class participated in two field trips to K-SHI.  These trips gave us an overview of the station, and we created a radio show for broadcast.

Field Trip #1 (February 28, 2006)
Tour of station by General Manager Duane Chimoni

In-class work
(1) Students identified favorite songs, played them for the class and identified themes and what they liked about the songs.
(2) Students completed worksheet via research through magazines, internet, etc.  The worksheet included sections on the history of their band, why they chose the song, and what message the song had.  Also it included sections to tie their song to other songs.
(3)  Students wrote the information from their worksheets into paragraphs as their script for their broadcast performance.
(4)  Students wrote thank you cards to Duane Chimoni and DJ Smooth for the time spent touring.

Field Trip #2 (April 11, 2006)
Students worked with General Manager Duane Chimoni to record their "DJ time", while DJ Smooth recorded their music.

In-class work
Students completed their April 12th Quiz which (1) described the trip(s) to KSHI; (2) description of how the trip(s) included speaking, listening, reading, and writing (3) word art or an illustration depicting the trip(s).

On-the air!
The student production was broadcast on April 13, 2006 at 3:10pm, by General Manager Duane Chimoni.  It was announced that the student production would also be broadcast on April 14, 2006, and possibly at future occasions.

Elahkwa to Duane Chimoni and DJ Smooth for their work with our students here at St. Anthony Indian School!
