What is Tone Art?
Poetry delivers a message, and it has a tone or emotion to it.  Think about the words in your poem.  What is the message?  What feeling does it give?  Happiness?  Anger?  Sadness?

Colors
often reflect how we are feeling.  Perhaps green represents jealousy.  Perhaps yellow represents happiness.  Which colors reflect feelings for you?  List at least five of them below:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Different symbols, shapes, and lines
also express emotion.  Dark full circles represent happiness.  Thin faint lines represent uncertainty.  Uneven squiggly lines represent confusion.  What symbols, shapes, and lines represent feelings for you?  List at least five of them below:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Lastly, people can interpret lines and colors in different ways.  For your art, include a write-up on an index card that includes the following:
Title:
(Title for your artwork)
Artist:
(Your name as the artist)
Materials:
(A list of the materials you used to create the tone art)
About this art:
(A paragraph that explains the colors and symbols, shapes, and lines that you used in your art.  How does it relate to the poem you read?  What emotion does the poem give?  What emotion do the colors, symbols, shapes, and lines give?)
