Language Arts Name __________________ Goals Project: Job/ Vocation Third Quarter 2005-2006 SY Vocation: voc = to call; it can be said that a vocation is a calling (from God) to work that might not pay a lot, where you use your gifts and talents. **SAMPLE BOOK AVAILABLE IN CLASS** January 3, 2006: BRAINSTORM Part One: List of 10 with Sentences List 10 jobs/vocations that you are interested in. For each job, write two sentences about what you would do (job description), one sentence about why you want this job, one sentence about the skills you need, one sentence about how you are preparing for this job. January 4, 2006: FIRST DRAFT Part Two: (Quiz #16) Favorite Job "Essay" Write paragraphs that describe the job/ vocation that you most want. Grading on: spelling, punctuation, capitalization, sentences, paragraphing, content. January 5-10, 2006: PUBLICATION Part Three: Panel Paragraphs and Word Art List your jobs in order from #1-10 (#1 being the one you are most interested in). For Jobs #2-10, make a panel for each job. In each panel, draw a picture, write the job title, and write a paragraph (you can use your sentences from Part One). For Job #1, create word art, and write one sentence or phrase that emphasizes the part that you want others to know about this job. January 5-10, 2006: EDIT, REVISE, AND FINALIZE Part Four: Peer-Edit Sheet, Revision, and Final Draft Find a peer. Have him/ her read your Quiz #16 and give comments, using the peer-edit sheet on the back of this handout. You will be graded on: Content = talk about the job, give information (see job statistics) Volume = loud enough for all to hear; louder and quieter to keep audience interest.
