AN EVENING WITH SITTING BULL

Bob Conti, José's percussionist was responsible for writing and producing "An Evening With Sitting Bull" as a one man show to be performed by Nick Ramus star of "Windwalker" and other Native American films. Bob subsequently became responsible for producing the album of the music which will be availble from his web site when it is up and running.

"An Evening With Sitting Bull" tells the story of the chief of the Teton Sioux people from his birth until his death at Little Big Horn. Because it has a strong narrative quality the album has an "wholeness" it is a clear entity. The music blends Jazz with Native American music in a unque way. Much of what you will hear has a mystic spiritual quality which is both beautiful and inspirational as the story moves from place to place over time, Sitting Bull grow and develops as a leader of his people. Listen to it and you cannot fail to be affected and moved.

José Feliciano's contribution comes in the later tracks which have a joyous quality speaking of a natural world, of rivers and trees which belong to all nations. José contributes to the whole blending with the work of the other musicians (including the Greg Smith his keyboard player).

Bob Cont's liner notes to the CD say that when José heard the story of Crazy Horse (Sitting Bull's lieutenant) he was "so inspired" that he claimed he could feel the spirit of Crazy Horse. The music brings alive that spirit inspiring the listener to remember those awful events of that time not much beyond living memory. In remembering perhaps we can ensure that history does not repeat itself in other places in other times.
