JOSÉ'S MIAMI CONCERT JULY 2004

Words alone cannot express the joy and happiness that I felt deep inside of me as I watched Jose perform last night at the Gusman Center. It was an amazing concert. An outstanding performance of the highest caliber.

For many years I had a dream that one day I would see Jose perform a solo concert with only his guitar and my dream came true last night. Jose was in top form with his only his soulful and appealing voice accompanied by his beautiful acoustic guitar.

With only a bright spotlight shining over him on a bare stage he opened his heart and soul to all that were present and he did this with his stellar and exquisite music. He sang in Spanish mostly and did three songs in English. He conversed a great deal with his faithful audience in between songs.

He performed a few selections from Senor Bolero 2 and many traditional songs from his native Puerto Rico. "Light My Fire" and "Chico and The Man" were included in the set and naturally he brought the house to its feet with a thunderous applause when he did these two classics.

He also did an amazing rendition of "Malaguena" and received the second of the four standing ovations when he finished playing this instrumental masterpiece.

It was apparent that God was with me last night since I did not encounter any problems trying to go backstage after the show to see him. Luckily for me, my mother (who saw Jose live for the first time last night and loved him) were told that Jose would be coming down from his dressing room in a few minutes.

My mother and I waited patiently in the hallway of one of the exit stage doors for Jose to finally be with us. Finally my mother and I caught a glimpse of Jose being escorted down the stairs. When he finally got to where we were I told him how brilliant he was on stage and how much I had loved the concert. I was amazed and shocked all at the same time that he would remember me. He said "Carlos, I want to thank you for coming to the show and for always suporting my career, thanks again so much".

At this time I introduced my mom to him and she said "Mr Feliciano, I'm honored to meet you, your concert was beautiful". Jose thanked her and shook her hand. I asked him if I could have a picture taken with him and my mom and he was gracious enought to agree. By this time were saying our goodbyes All in all it was a wonderful evening that my mom and I will cherish forever in our hearts.
