Jazz Cafe 2
José at Jazz Cafe by Alan Wilson

Notes from the Jazz Café.
When José played London’s Jazz Café in October I was fortunate enough to spend some time with him backstage. He was in very good spirits and often looking for the humorous connection to what was going on around him.
Also, he was just as enthusiastic about The Beatles as he always has been. Warming up one evening, before going on stage, he sang and played snatches from “Girl”, “You’re gonna lose that girl”, “Hey, you’ve got to hide your love away”, and “All you need is love”. Then another time, he said how much he had been enjoying reading the braille edition of the Beatles Anthology books he had been given by Jane Cox, for his 55th birthday, in September 2000. He found the detailed information so interesting and was really thrilled that Paul McCartney had personally signed the inside cover.
