José Feliciano Live at the Albert Hall March 5th 1973

In March 1973 José toured much of Europe and later the rest of the World. The British concerts had the added attraction of José sharing the bill with The London Symphony Orchestra and The London Philomonia.
Aged sixteen I had the honour and joy to see José at the Birmingham Odeon on March 10th.
The most lasting legacy of the tour comes from the first gig on 5th March at the Albert Hall which spawned both a TV special and album. It is on the latter I wish to focus here to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the tour.
The album was sold by mail order and cost 2.50 today it sells for at least five times that when copies appear on Ebay. It is easy to see why this is; the album is indisputably a classic with classic Feliciano tracks played superbly by the maestro and his "backing group". So we hear superb versions of "Rain", "Destiny", "Light My Fire", "California Dreamin'", "Hey Jude" and "Fireworks" with the added delight of the only recordings of "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Zorba". It is worthy of a place in anyone's collection.
