José's Diary A page in which we list all the gigs we can find

If you play guitar there are a large number of tabs to be found here

4th January 2004. Happy New Year to everyone. I found this link to a story about the recent release of a Feliciano DVD entitled "Ayer, Hoy and Siempre", yesterday, now and forever. It seems a huge shame we did not hear more about the significance of this project from José's management and his web site.

New Year is a time to look back to yesterday, enjoy the present and wonder about the future - forever! In looking for today's news I found stories which take us through this process of reflection.

SOOOOOO! looking back to yesterday I found this story which will interest those of us old enough to remember a long way in José's past and who were facinated by the cover of "And the Feeling's Good" with it's photos of the musicians involved in the album; Duke Bardwell remembers those times in part of this interview

In the present these stories here and here remind us of the huge input José makes to helping others.

For the future. we are left with a mystery, José's Personal website has been altered in a way which suggests that John Regna is no longer involved in his career but the identity of the new manager is not in the public arena so we can only wish José all the luck in the World as these changes take effect in 2004.

11th January 2004; Last night José performed at the gala dinner to mark the fiftieth anniversary of an organisation working with blind children in Kansas City. Hope the kids got to meet him - what a role model! To read more about the gig click here you have to subscribe to the Kansas City Star to read these stories but it is free and only takes a couple of minute.

As we enter an new year two thoughts strike me about things we might do on this site this year (1) Despite the efforts of Eileen Blass on José's personal web site guitar tabulation for many Feliciano compositions is difficult if not impossible to obtain. Someone is sending me a link to a good site and if anyone else has links send them and we'll have a page devoted to them to help the guitarists amongst us (of which I am not one!). Also someone wrote to me with a good idea for getting tabulations transcribed; I wonder if that person would like to post on the notice board.

(2) A comparatively few Feliciano fans bid for Feliciano related items on Ebay and, inevitably, by bidding against each other put the price up! We could have some sort of "swap shop" on this site but it needs much thought especially in terms of legal and copyright issues. My immediate thinking is to prohibit the exchange of recordings under two years old. If anyone has any thoughts contact us off line.

18th January 2004: OK! This is cheating it should be on an archive page but click here for an intersting interview from about twenty years ago!

25th Janauary 2004; I have just updated the diary page with new gigs for February and a tantalising reference to gigs in Europe during the summer; I have also added more pages to the Living Legend Page. No news on the "new manager story" as yet, watch this space!

1st February 2004: Last week's reference to European gigs seems to be coming true with a definite date in Switzerland - thank you Marie Rose. Check the diary for details.

It was nice this week to find a story from Britain which mentioned José click here to read it.

Fil posted on the notice board about the lack of information about José on the "Guitar Player" web site and suggested writing to them; as fans it would be nice if we could raise awareness of José's work with a publication which should know better! Fil gave a link to the web site but links do not work on the notice board so click here to contact "Guitar Player" or write in their forum by clicking here

5th February 2004: I have just added another European gig to the diary page!

15th February 2004: I added another link to the diary page during the week - a link about the Minneappolis gig. It seems José had an appearance last week end we did not find but it was a private function - John Travolta's birthday party click here to read about it and go to his personal web site to see photos of the event.

I FINALLY got the DVD of "Guitarra Mia" this week; I AM struck by the fact that three releases with the same name by the same artist are so different! Every fan should have CD, video and DVD. Errrrr the subtitles do help! Of the artists who play tribute to José my favourite is Lucita Benitez with whom he duets on "Para Decir Adios". If you want to know more about her click here

The web master of the Fantastic Feliciano site and I are wondering if we are the only people who have heard "Call me Romeo", the nearest we have had to a new Feliciano release in English for some time. Use the link at the top of this page to go to his site for details - if you HAVE heard it use the notice board to tell us what you think.

22nd February 2004: Next week will be the final week of February. In the first two months of this year this site has had 1000 hits; proof perhaps that we are beginning to be seen as a creditable source of information - to say the least!

People are interested in what is going on with José and his career. I know people think that Alan and I have some kind of inside knowledge; oh that that was true! We find what we can by trawling Google for long hours so we can update this site regularly.

This week we have found nothing so nothing to update! I am still seeking confirmation of the identity of the new manager but nothing thus far!

29th February 2004; José has had a busy week with an appearance at the Premio Lo Nuestro a la Musica Latina Awards in Miami on Thursday and gigs in Mineappolis and Wisconsin this weekend.

I feel sad that this week Carlos posted on the notice board, asking if anyone knew when José would be in Miami, on the day José WAS in Miami! Tickets were available for the event and I am sure many Feliciano fans woud have gone given the information in advance

7th March 2004: I have just added a new gig to the diary; details are a bit vague as I don't have a venue BUT if you are near Chicago watch this space! I think it is an orchestral concert!

Yesterday Fil posted on the notice board with news of an Austrian web site doing a poll to find the personality of 2004. José joins nominees who include a diverse bunch of people from Paul Mac Cartney to the Pope. VOTE HERE! . If 100 people visit this page this week and each asked 10 people to vote we could collect 1000 votes for José.

21st March 2004: I did not do an update last Sunday as it fell within the period of mourning for the victims of the Madrid bomb blasts. Apparantly last Saturday José performed in Toronto .

He has also performed a duet on Dionne Wawick's new album.

Thanks to Fil for his response on the notice board which informed us that "Aaron Loves Angela" is available on video from Amazon.com (not the UK branch)

The Austrian site running a poll for "Personality of 2004" is still taking votes. If you have not voted for José PLEASE do so by using the link I gave two weeks ago; I would like to think that we are responsible for him lying in a VERY creditable fifth place but he is, of course, a hugely popular artist and incredible human being who deserves to win!

28th March 2004: I found this interview in which José talks of his desire to work with Indian musicians I know at least one Indian fan "out there" so anyone want to tell us about José's impact in the Indian sub continent?

The notice board is begining to look good with a good number of posts; to visit it click on the Bravenet button below.

Alan and Carlos have been talking about a new CD/DVD called "Time After Time" which seems to be one of the many versions of the CD first called "Present Tense". I know there were problems with this recording being released in many forms not authorised by the Felicianos if you wish to buy the new version please keep this in mind! I have written to Feliciano Enterprises to clarify the authenticity of this version and will post their response when I have it. No one seems to know what is on the DVD and therefore whether it is new material, again, I will clarify this when I can.

4th April 2004: I have no news on the "Time After Time" CD/DVD release except that "Lisa" has posted something which sounds knowledgeable on the notice board; my advice is to read that and make enquiries before purchase

Any visitors to this site who speak Spanish will enjoy this interview I am wondering if Carlos might tell us what it says :). Anyway it is a nice photo of José which I have not seen before.

EASTER SUNDAY 2004; HAPPY EASTER. Apparantly José performed "The Star Spangled Banner" at a Florida Base Ball game last night; hope he enjoyed the game! There are several sites covering the story but none worth linking to as they just say that he performed the anthem. I've added the appearance to the diary page even though it is retrospective; with the current dearth of information I think it is important that he has a web presence recording that he is out there performing regularly.

18th April 2004: I was saddened to be told this week that "The Original Jose Feliciano Web Site" has been disconnected and therefore can no longer be accessed. This site was the first JF site and was the meeting place for many people who have since become friends. I did not agree with some of the comments made therein but did very much enjoy much of the less controviersial content.

The site's demise means that the "Fireworks" mailing list is no more; we could, in theory, start a mailing list based on this site; what do you think? Please use the notice board to share your views.

While you are thinking click here and here to see two photos of José which were new to me.

25th April 2004: José's Personal Web site's tour page has been updated to include several gigs new to us click here to see them.

Visitors to the notice board will know that Alan bought the CD/DVD "Time After Time" and felt it did not offer value for money (to put it mildly) I am told, by Feliciano Enterprises, that this product is not authorised by them so please click here to read comments made by John Regna about music piracy and then think very, very care fully before buying it!

José is still lying in fifth place in the Austrian poll reported earlier; please vote if you haven't already

The First of May :) Hands up everyone who has played a certain song today :) WELL I DID!

click here to access the "José's Management" page on his personal web site where his new agent is listed.

9th May 2004: José did two performances with the Knoxville Symphony in Tennessee this week end - gigs which we found for you many months ago! Hope they went well, if any one was there please let us know about it. It was nice to read this account of an unscheduled appearance this week..nice little photo too.

Also this week the subject of music piracy has not gone away; if you see a CD, DVD or video advertised which you don't know about PLEASE check it out before you buy it; most obviously by posting on the notice board to see what other people know about it.

I've added a link giving information about the Polish gig to the diary there is information about getting tickets but it is a charity gala (of which he does many :) and I don't know how much time will be given to his performance.

16th May 2004: José is in Europe :) and apart from a few days in Mexico will be here for much of the next two weeks! This web site reflects ALL of José's achievements and activities but I am European as is my co web master and the web master of the Fantastic Feliciano Site so we are excited, with good reason!

The big news this week is that I read that "Senor Bolero" just earned its FIFTH PLATINUM DISC!

I read a really good review of the Knoxville gigs but it was on a site which had small print about copyright and seemed to want $200 if another site linked to it, sorry I can't afford that :) but it seems that the show was "unusual" in the pops season in that José played many more classical pieces than other guest artists; his selection included "Segovia" which he composed.

23rd May 2004; Another week in which José appears in two great European capitals!

Last week Fil posted on the notice board about a new Paul Simon CD collection which includes a duet with José the song is called "Born in Puerto Rico", anyone ever heard it? Thanks for this very interesting story Fil

I've just added some new links to the José's Diary Page - for the Helen Keller award ceremony and the Robert Mondavi Winery gig; I have found nothing on the Mexico City appearance which seems odd

No European flag this week because José and the band have probably gone home! I hope Marie Rose, a regular contributor to the Notice Board, will tell us about the European appearances!
For the time being, I found two intersting web pages, in the first José talks about the song "Un Ciego No Vive En Oscuridad" which was the most popular spanish language song in the poll we ran. Secondly José gave this interview in Australia .

I know some people have worked out that I do updates each Sunday and visit accordingly so I must warn you that there may not be an update next week as I will be away and Alan may not be around. In the meantime check the notice board as normal and I may do an update around 10th May; CYA :)

9th June 2004 We had a technical glich on Sunday when Alan tried to post the following :)
"I’ve had first hand reports from both José’s european gigs and he was in sparkling form at both venues. The Vienna concert was virtually a gig and a half as there was an intermission. We may be able to post details of the numbers performed in due course".

I have just aded some information on the Chicago gig in August to the Diary page.

13th June 2004: This week saw the passing of Ray Charles and there are some nice tributes on the notice board.

I've done a new page about Vienna and Zurich go to the Seen and Heard Pages to read it. Talking of which; if you look a the photo of the Zurich gig on the Personal Web Site you can see that the Percussionist was not Scott; apparantly he was replaced by a familiar face - Bob Conti! Whether this is permanent I don't know but I met Scott at Jazz Cafe and if he has moved on I wish him luck in his new ventures.

20th June 2004: No news this week EXCEPT I have just put the first gig for 2005 on the diary page :) The last few months have been a bit quiet but as I trawl for information two things strike me, firstly the concerts I find do seem to be in good venues and secondly they are showing up more on the web sites of on line ticket agencies. Maybe the new management set up (what ever it is) are bringing about changes which will reap rewards over the coming months; watch this space :)

27th June 2004: If you go to www.latino.ch and click on entrevistas there is an interview with José in both oral and written forms with a link to some great pictures of the Zurich gig. BUT this is the most frustrating site I have ever visited; this address will take you to an entry page if you click on the word enter you eventually get to a home page and go from there, but every page on the site has the same address so I can't give specific links! Thanks to Tina for telling me about this site

I have just added a new gig to the diary page; sorry there is not much time as it is 11th July, thanks to Philip for sending me this information.

Thousands of Brits are currently wallowing in the mud at the Glastonbury Festival. I was once told that José appeared there in 1970. I have no reason to disbelieve this story but I am very painfully aware that many others do not believe it. It has never been my intention to spread misleading information about José. Any way, I wish Mean Fiddler would ask him to appear there next year
