In a press release dated 12.15.98, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP),
the world's largest performing rights organization, announced its Top 25 Christmas Songs of the Century. Included among those 25 was Feliz Navidad by José Feliciano.
The list was compiled as a prelude to the upcoming 85th anniversary of the founding of the 80,000 member
ASCAP.
Calling them "classics", President and Chairman Marilyn Bergman said they were ASCAP's most-performed
songs. "These songs brighten the season year after year." Further, she said "...most of them
have been recorded by other artists, yet each song retains the original stamp of its creator."
