THE EARLY BOLERO ALBUMS

In 1966 RCA were asked to send one of their artists to the Mar Del Plata Festival in Argentina; they chose José Feliciano.   The event was attended by 17,000 people.   The reception they gave José was so great he was immediately taken to a recording studio to make his first Spanish language album.   It was José’s decision to record the boleros he had learned as a child and the album was a smash hit in Argentina, Venezuela and Mexico.

More Spanish language albums followed and José won many fans in Latin America before his fame spread to the English speaking world and beyond.
