Internal Warfare
After years of searching for his dear Alexis who had gone missing when they were eighteen, Gregory finally manages to locate her in Los Angelos, but there's a problem: Alexis doesn't remember him.  Having been kidnapped and her mind completely wiped of all the things she knew before, Alexis had been transformed into Jacqulyn.  Now that Gregory, her past love as entered her life she has started treatments to try and remember who she was and the love that they once shared.  She simply explains to her husband, Alistair, that she's only doing it to try and understand who she really is, but one night, those memories come flooding back full force causing an internal warfare to break out within Jackie's heart.  And as you know, no war is complete without casualities.
Dr. Manning stood over Jacqulyn, monitoring her heart rate and brain waves as the elaborate machine manipulated her mind.  Gregory paced to and fro in the background as the doctor continued to work.  They had been performing the procedure on her for almost a month and each time she remembered a bit more.  He knew there was no way she would remember every moment of the eighteen years Dr. Alexander had taken away from her, but anything was better than nothing.  In the beginning, Gregory was very hesitant to her invitation to accompany her, but she had convinced him that she wanted someone who cared for her in the past there by her side.  Besides, he could never say no to Alexis--even if she was another woman entirely now.
"Tell me what you can remember, Jackie.  Anything new?" asked Dr. Manning as he fidgeting with the dials of the apparatus.
"Mint chocolate chip ice cream." she responded, her eyes gradually opening.  Gregory's head jerked around.  The hairs on the back of his neck stood up.  A smile slowly began to crease across the corners of his mouth.
     "What about it?"
"I was eating two scoops of Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream when Gregory came over to ask me out."  Dr. Manning laughed and peered back at Gregory.  All this time, she had been recalling memories of her interests and small moments with her family; this was the first time she had ever mentioned Gregory's name in her recollection.
"Tell us about it." suggested the doctor.  She shifted in the chair, her gaze locking with Gregory's.
"It was summer.  Very hot.  I was sitting by the pool.  Red bikini I think.  He sat with me for a bit and then he asked me to go to the movies that Saturday night--or was it a Friday?"  Gregory began massaging the back of his neck as his cheeks grew flushed.
"You're right.  It was a Saturday." he exclaimed softly.
