Chapter 49

Soft. Warm. Comfortable. Nicks eyelids fluttered open then shut. He wasnt ready to relinquish the feeling. Soft. Warm. Comfortable. This was the best bed ever. He forced his eyes open. Shitit was Abe. She was lying on her stomach and he was half-laying on top her. Hed made her his human body pillow. Apparently she didnt mind because when he eased off of her, she instinctively followed, snuggling closer, relishing the warmth of his body.

Scrubbing a hand over his face, he blinked to clear away the cobwebs. He carefully studied her as she slept. Her white pajama top had ridden up high on her back revealing her tattoo. With his fingertip, he traced the outline of the small dragon. She shifted and sighed. He bit back a smile and began to run his finger up her spine, planting a tender kiss on the back of her neck.

Her moan was rewarded with a string of kisses to her ear, his fingers dancing over her side to her stomach.

Nick

Shhhh

What are you doing?

Do you trust me Bella?

Yes, she whispered.

Then just feel, he breathed against her ear.

He captured her ear lobe between his lips as his hand slid up to cup her breast. He moved so his other arm was under her head and curving down to cradle her against him. Pulling on her ear lobe, he traced circles around her nipple. Her breathing had increased. He was fascinated by the rise and fall of her chest. Nick traced along the hem of the tank, which was bunched up under her breasts. Abe was biting her lower lip while she waited for his next move. He continued to tease her, by slowly easing his fingers under the top with each pass across her ribs. He noticed she was clutching at the side of the mattress. Her eyes remained closed to the soft rays of morning light drifting into the room around the curtains. He traced her ear with the very tip of his tongue. A tiny moan escaped her lips.

Abe couldnt think. He was driving her crazy. His lips and teeth tugging at her ear lobe were enough to shut her brain down. Not to mention the maddening feel of his fingers sliding back and forth at the edge of her top. If she were bolder she would have moved his hand to where she wanted it. If she were bolder, she would have pulled off the top so he would have no excuse not to touch her. But she wasnt bolder, so she was forced to endure his teasing. Not that she minded one bit, but she really wanted to feel his hand on her. Suddenly, she felt the wet heat of his tongue tracing her ear and couldnt suppress a moan completely. Then his hand was enveloping her breast. It was warm and soft and slightly calloused from his drumming. His touch surprised her, because in the past the few times someone had touched her breasts they had grabbed. Not Nick. He was caressing her. Lightly brushing the very tips of his fingers all over first one breast, then the other, finally placing the flat of his palm against the hardened nub and firmly massaging.

He moaned as he heard her gasp and watched her back arch, pushing her breast more fully into his hand. He could feel her nipple pressing into his palm. Her breast filled his hand. The tank was now getting in his way. He moved so he was more on his back than his side and brought her with him. Allowing his knuckles to stroke the skin in the valley between her breasts, Nick pushed the tank up high on her chest. Watching intently as the material slid up her body, finally exposing her to him. Looking up at her face, Nick was taken with how beautiful she looked. Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes closed. Her hair was fanned across his arm and the pillow. He moved to caress her other breast. Abe reached for his free hand, twining the fingers of one hand with his and wrapping the other around his wrist.

He wanted to touch her everywhere. To kiss her everywhere, but he held back so not to spook her. Soon, his teasing fingers were causing her to squirm. Her legs were shifting against each other. His hand left her breast and again traced circles, but this time they journeyed down her body. He felt giddy, because she was allowing him to touch her this way. He was completely hard, but he was focused on her.

His fingers reached the waistband of her pajama bottoms and they began the same dance they had with the bottom of the tank top. He felt a slight change in Abe. She was thinking. He could feel it. He nibbled his way along her collarbone and felt her relax. Sliding his hand lower, under the material, he felt her heat and moaned. He gently caressed her legs; soon he felt her open to him. Closing his eyes to concentrate on his sense of touch, he slid his fingers between her legs. She arched as his fingers played with her wet folds. Her bottom brushed against his erection and it was his turn to arch. He wanted to feel more of her heat. He lightly teased her until she thrust against his finger trying to get him inside. Only then did he ease his finger inside her. He noticed her hands were tightening on his and her moving to the rhythm he was setting. He used his thumb to tease her.

With every move of her hips, Abe could feel Nicks erection pressing against her back. The fact that he was now thrusting against her while his fingers were touching her in such an intimate way, heightened her excitement. Feeling his breath in hot bursts against her neck added to the sensations. The tingling had started at her center and spread through her body.

He felt it start. Moaning, Abe arched against him, her legs tightening on his hand. He was caught up in watching. She began relaxing. Turning her head to look at him for the first time, he gently kissed her cheek.

You okay, he asked softly.

Yeah, she said, with a small smile. You?

Yeah.

Brushing her bottom back against his hardness, she asked, you sure.

Yeah, he said, biting his bottom lip when she wiggled against him.

I think its your turn, she said. If thats okay.

He looked at her and saw a flash of uncertainty in her eyes.

You can do whatever you want to me.

Okay, she replied, feeling a twinge of nerves.

She couldnt believe she was being bold. A few minutes ago she wasnt bold enough to take off her shirt, but now she was rubbing against him to see if she could get him to moan again. But something had changed. A barrier had come down. She had let him see her and touch her in a way no one else had and she had felt safe and protected. Most of all she had felt loved and now she wanted to give that same gift back to him.

Nick relaxed as he felt her begin to move against him. It didnt matter that his sweatpants and her pajama bottoms were separating them. His hips began to match her movements. She sensed he needed to have more control over his thrusting and rolled them slightly so she was lying more face down on the bed. Sliding against her, his pace quickened. Soon he pressed against her as he buried his face against the side of her neck. She felt his body jerk with his orgasm. Breathing hard, he rolled to his back, his finger finally slipping from inside her.

She turned over. He looked amazing. His hair was sticking up everywhere and his cheeks were the deep red she had only seen when he was on stage jumping around or when they worked out. He looked slightly dazed. Taking in a deep breath, he exhaled as he wrapped her in close to his body. They almost dozed off, but a knock on the door prevented it.

You guys up for some breakfast, before we head out, asked Michele through the door.

Sure. Be out in a minute, called Abe. Looking back at Nick, she said, I think you need a shower before you come out.

He laughed and said, Yep.

Getting out of bed, Abe pulled down her tank top and stretched. Nick watched her. He was watching signs of her freaking about what just happened. She saw him watching her and could see the concern in his eyes. Leaning down and cupping his face, she kissed him.

Thanks for the best wake up Ive ever gotten. You know with skills like that I may get use to having you around.

Good cause I dont plan on going anywhere.

Chapter 50

Nick knew something was up. Abe had been quiet all morning. They were currently on a plane heading for Phoenix, where the tour picked back up. They were on the same plane they had argued on when Abe came to get him months back, which seemed like a lifetime ago.

He finally knew Abes friend, Bear, owned the plane. Bear was stopping in Phoenix to refuel and dropping them off before heading to LA for a meeting. He had also been the one to fly them to Hilton Head for New Years Eve. They had stayed in his house on the beach. After the initial introductions, everyone had treated Nick like one of the group and not a pop star, which was nice. They had been more shocked to find out Abe had a boyfriend than his celebrity. Nick was finally beginning to understand just how honest Abe had been about her life before he met her. Now he wondered if this was the reason for her remoteness as she sat looking out the window with her feet propped on the bench seat they were sharing.

Resting his chin on her shoulder, he asked, Why you bein so quiet?

Studying the clouds laid out around them, she said, I dont want to go back.

Why, he asked, genuinely surprised.

I dont know, she hedged. I guess Im scared to go back.

Why are you scared?

Im scared someone else will figure out about us. Im afraid Ill lose my job and kill my chances at future jobs. Im afraid Ill lose focus and screw up my job. Her voice trailed off as her foot started bouncing. On a rush of air, she said, Im scared Ill lose you.

Wrapping his arms around her, he said, How will you lose me?

Ill do something to screw it up. You havent seen my screw up side yet. When I screw up, I screw up huge.

Stop, he said, pressing his lips to her temple.

How can you be so calm, she asked pushing on him to get some distance.

He held her in place. I figure you do enough of the worrying for both of us. In case ya havent figured it out, Im pretty much a go with the flow kind of guy. Well, as long as the flow is going the way I want.

She smiled.

Things are flowing the way I want right now, so Im coastin.

How are they flowing, she asked, resting her head against his shoulder.

Works fine. Things with the fellas are fine. Family is, well, family. The best flow is I got my girl with me and she makes me feel like everything is okay.

Have you not been listening to me? I listed off a bunch of things that could go wrong!

Tipping her head back for their eyes to meet, he said, You gave a list of things that could happennot have happened. I figure Ill wait and deal with things as they come up. Besides, youre completely freaking out about yourjob performanceI think thats what they call it.

Yes, thats what they call it.

Well, chill, because ya got nothing to worry about. Dont look at me like Im crazy. Your job is being my assistant. And that focus thing is simple, he said, with a grin.

Really now, replied Abe, eyebrow arched.

Yep. Just stay focused on me and it all becomes real simple.

That so.

Yep. Now be quiet, because I wanna kiss you.

He paused for a moment and when she remained quiet, he leaned in for a tender kiss.

So, how did Bear get this plane?

Abe explained, Bears real name is Winslow Ralston. He is named after his grandfather, who was a tobacco farmer. When Mr. Ralston died, he left everything to Bear. The old man had been very successful in tobacco, but Bear isnt cut out to be a farmer. He was already in his third year at college, majoring in finance. So, he used what hed learned and put together a deal to turn the farm into Ralston Glen. Which is a very family friendly neighborhood just outside Columbia. The deal made him millions and hes parlayed it into other money-making projects. All that is to explain that he is a boy and boys like their toys. His toys just happen to include a plane, a beach house on Hilton Head Island, among other things.

Wow, replied Nick. Except for him picking us up in the plane, you would never know he had a bunch of money.

No hes pretty level-headed about it all.

So did he pay you back for the food you picked up?

No, she said frowning, and then realized Nicks friends always expected reimbursement. Actually, it was a pact we made when the money first started rolling in. We all pitch in financially. Granted he does pay more when he uses the plane to take us places, but we all do our part. It is only fair.

Changing the subject, Nick asked, Wheres your accent? I cant believe you were born and raised in South Carolina and dont much of an accent.

You probably hear it more now, because Ive been around Bear and some of the others. I dontmy parents never had strong accents. Any accent I had I lost once I joined my first crew. Anything else you want to know, she asked, smiling.

He thought for a moment. Yeahwhens your birthday?

February 7.

Really? Mines January 28.

I know.

I liked your friends. I cant believe Michele invited me to the wedding.

Of course she would invite you. Youre my boyfriend.

So you are finally crossing over to the dark side?

Meaning?

Meaning are you finally admitting we might last?

She stuck her tongue out at him.

Laughing, he said, Ill take that as a yes. I love you.

Giving him a look, she said, Love you too.

******

Have you got everything, asked Bear as his plane was being fueled.

I think so. Thanks for the ride, replied Abe giving him a hug.

He whispered in her ear. You look great and I like him.

Pulling back, Abe smiled.

He turned to Nick, extending a hand. Im glad you could make it.

Im glad I was invited and like Abe said, thanks for the ride.

Anytimeanytimeonly preferably without you two fighting. The couple blushed and he threw his head back with a hearty laugh.

Call when you land.

Yes mom, he teased. You two have fun on the road. When does the tour end?

At the end of March.

A member of the ground crew interrupted to say everything was set and Bear had been cleared for take off. They said their final goodbye and watched the plane taxi down the runway and take flight.

You know you can only stall for so long.

I know, sighed Abe.

Look we have a limo, he said in a way that caught her attention.

Yeah?

Im thinking we could get some kissing in on the ride to the hotel.

Do you?

Ill give it a shot.

Abe laughed, Good to know.

Come on Bella. It is all going to be fine.

From your mouth to Gods ears, stated Abe, climbing into the back of the waiting car.

Chapter 51

For once, Nick was being proactive. He picked up on Abes fear of them being found out. He realized she needed to be clued in on AJ and Marcus knowing. It would be a disaster for her to find out by accident. However, just because he was being proactive didnt mean he was completely insane. Nope, he was a chicken and making AJ tell her.

AJ looked so serious, which was unusual enough, but coupled with the fact they were in the back of a cab made Abe want to laugh. They, along with Marcus, were on their way back to the hotel after doing some shopping. AJ had been fidgety as a cat a room full of rockers, while they were shopping and his bodyguard hadnt been much better. Now, Marcus sat up front talking to the driver, allowing Abe and AJ some privacy.

AJ took both her hands and gazed intently at her. Abe gave him an uneasy look.

Is someone dying, she asked in all seriousness.

No!

Pulling her hands free, Abe said, then quit acting like this. Youre freakin me out man!

You're not gonna like this, but I gotta tell ya anyway. I know about you and Nick, AJ confessed, in a rush of words. He watched her eyes widen, her face pale. He didnt think she was breathing. Abe say something.

Stop the car.

This caught the drivers attention. He glanced at Marcus, who dismissed the request with a shake of his head, before continuing their conversation. He wasnt about to be pulled into this.

Abe, it aint no big thing.

Her face suddenly shot red. Through clenched teeth, she hissed, it is a huge thing. Did Nick tell you?

Hell no! Pat, Marcus and me figured it out when we went dancing.

Im going to be sick, she muttered.

Abe this is a good thing.

No, its an over thing.

Ah hell! No it isnt, replied AJ. You are the best thing that ever happened to that boy and hes been good for you too. Im not about to let you fuck this up!

Abe stared at him for a minute then she started to cry. Well damn if that didnt surprise him.

Abe dont cry. This is not a bad thing. We think its pretty fucking fantastic.

You do, she asked in small voice.

Yeah.

Rogers gonna fire me, AJ.

No hes not. We made a pact that we wouldnt say anything to anyone.

Yeah you kept that pact, retorted Abe.

Hey Nicky and you are the only two who know we know. He looked confused for a moment. I think I got that straight.

Smiling, she said, You did. So Nick knows you know?

Yeah. Hes the reason Im telling you now. She cocked an eyebrow and he continued, Hes been payin attention to you freak about others finding out. He figured you needed to know we know. Chicken Shit made me tell you.

He did?

Yeah, said AJ, rolling his eyes.

Why?

He wanted me to take the brunt of your freak out.

Oh, replied Abe, frowning.

Now dont get that face, he ordered.

Hes myboyfriend and he doesnt want to be around me when I freak. Got it.

Will you cut this shit out? He was scared.

Yeah of me freaking out!

No of losing you.

Because I freaked?

Sort ofThe first thing you said was its over. Thats not a confidence builder.

Looking dejected, Abe said, I guess so.

Cheer up. This is all good. Are you going to give him a hard time?

We will have to talk.

Shit! The weve gotta talk thing. Why do you girls all gotta do that?

Making a face at him, she said, Its not like that AJ. I need to let him know why I freak around him.

Cause your scared, replied AJ, smugly.

Actually, its the opposite.

Huh?

I feel safe enough with himand you, she said, poking him. To freak out around you.

AhhhI get it. So we cool?

Were cool, replied Abe.

*******

Nick was pacing the suite, when Abe stepped inside.

Weve got to talk.

Shit!

Despite her best intentions, Abe started laughing. Will you just sit down.

Shit, he muttered, taking a seat on the couch. I can fix this

He was silenced by a kiss.

Quiet. I get to talk now.

He nodded and remained silent.

Im not mad. Im a little hurt. WaitOnly, because you were afraid to be around when I freaked out. Im sorry Ive freaked out so much lately.

I know its newthis is me shutting up now.

Thank you. Its more than that Nick. Ive only ever freaked with Michele. Freaking is a sign of weakness and gives power to others, so I dont normally let people see that side of me. I trust you and AJ, because both of you have seen me cry and youve handled it. However, if you dont want to deal with it, then Ill figure out a way to keep it in check.

NoI was a chicken shit. Why are you smiling?

AJ used that same phrase.

Shithead, mutter Nick, but he was smiling. I was afraid youd break up with me and I figured hed have a better chance of talking you out of it.

In other words, we both freaked.

Yeah I guess we did. Sorry.

Caressing his face, Abe said, Make a deal with you.

Okay?

Only one of us gets to freak out at a time. Up until now it has worked for us.

Yeah. Except for at your apartment and now.

True. Laughing, she said, good thing we had Michele and AJ to get us back in line.

Yeah. I cant believe he called me a chicken shit.

Was he wrong?

No, but thats so not the point.

I know baby.

Nick immediately shifted gears upon hearing the endearment. Pulling her close, he kissed her.

Let me guessBaby, she said.

He grinned and said, oh yeah.

Abe allowed him to distract her for only a few minutes.

Pulling away from his lips, she said, Okay, time to be serious.

Now, he whined. Okay.

If there is something we need to talk about, you need to trust me enough to come to me. I may freak some, but eventually I calm down. The only times weve had problems in the whole time weve known each other were when we didnt talk things through.

I know. So from now on we talk.

Yes. Just because I freak, doesnt mean I dont love you. I do. I love you even more, because youre there for me.

Bella, Ill always try to be there. And youre right, it is better to go through things with you.

Baby, I feel the same way, she said with a grin.

Theres that word again.

Bab

Talking done.
