What can I say...I'm just a plain sucker for desert terrain!

This picture was taken in October 2000 on the veranda of the guest house we eventually stayed in. We had just arrived from Pokhara (altitude:800m) to some 2,700m (if I recall correctly) and was having b'fast in the hope that the time spent would help acclimatise us somewhat b4 heading for Muktinath by horse.

Why horse? Because we were on a tight schedule.

If this is the kind of terrain you crave...then Muktinath is the place to go.

I recommend the shortcut route because it provides the most breathtaking desert views(i.e. forget about Kagbeni).
